Former Bucs placekicker Martin Gramatica was cut by the Patriots. Gramatica was attempting to make comeback after missing the 2005 season due to injuries.
Rookie Stephen Gostkowski, whose job it was to lose, will take over the kicking duties for the Pats. The team drafted Gostkowski in the fourth round in April with the hopes that he would become the successor to Adam Vinatieri, who left for the Colts this offseason. This was evident when the Patriots signed Gostkowski of Memphis to a four-year, $2.035 million contract that included a $425,000 signing bonus.
