The Green Bay Packers got pushed around by the San Francisco 49ers and saw their season come to an end as they lost in the divisional round of the playoffs 45-31. The Packers got off to a great start as they picked off Colin Kaepernick and returned it for a touchdown but the 49ers scored on the following drive and they did it with ease, which would become a theme for the rest of the game. Green Bay answered with another touchdown but the 49ers dominated the second quarter, putting up 17 points, and one of the 49ers touchdown’s came after the Packers fumbled a punt return inside their own 20-yard line. But it was the fourth quarter that really did in the Packers.  San Francisco scored two touchdowns, the backbreaker being a rushing touchdown with only three minutes left in the game. The difference in the game came from the fact that Green Bay just couldn’t stop the 49ers offense at all.  Outside of the pick six at the start of the game, the 49ers moved the ball anyway they wanted and the Packers just didn’t have an answer for them. Crabtree had nine catches for 119 yards and two touchdowns.  Frank Gore had 119 yards on 23 carries.  But the main guy in the 49ers offense was Kaepernick.  He threw for 263 yards and two touchdowns but he killed the Packers with his running, he racked up 181 yards and two rushing touchdowns. The game just boiled down to the fact that the Packers couldn’t stop the 49ers and they also couldn’t keep up with them.  The Packers defense gave up 579 total yards of offense; the Packers offense only got 352 yards. San Francisco was the better team and it showed.  The Packers weren’t able to slow down their offense and the 49ers defense was able to slow the Packers offense just enough. From here the Packers will have to come up with a way to slow down opposing teams in the postseason.  In the last two post season losses the Packers have given up a combined 82 points.  This team featured a young defense so there will be improvements next year but the Packers will have to continue to draft and develop defensive players. Green Bay will just have to regroup and try again next season.  Man, I hate those words.
