Today the Green Bay Packers announced that they have officially released former Pro Bowl safety Nick Collins, who was attempting to make a comeback from a horrific next injury and rather than allow him to attempt to play again, risking his health in the process, the Packers have informed Collin’s agent Alan Herman that he has been released according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
Even though the end of Collin’s career in Green Bay seemed inevitable, it was expected that if he were told by doctors it was not safe to resume his playing career , he would simply walk away, yet the Packers release of Collins still leaves his football career in mirky waters.
Collins met with doctors a couple of weeks ago to receive the results of all the tests and to determine where he is physically able to play, following fusion surgery on his injured neck. The injury occurred in week 2 of last season, when Collins attempted to tackle Carolina Panthers running back Jonat...

2012 NFL Draft
As the 2012 NFL Draft is about to begin, here are some things that have been whispered into my ear as well as some of my own opinions and predictions.
Whisper: The Packers love Shea McClellin, but so do the Patriots, who pick just before them. If Ted HAS to have him, he’ll need to trade up in front of NE (unless Mercilus is there for New England, who is their first...
Nick Perry will be a difference maker from Day One for the Green Bay Packers. He remained on the board until the late 1st round due to questions about his NFL readiness, but he has the upside to be a dominant pass rusher at the next level.
In Green Bay, Perry’s deficiencies will be masked by his supporting cast, which eases the concerns some teams had about throwing him into the...
According to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Green Bay Packers have notified safety Nick Collins that he will be released.
Collins suffered a serious neck injury this past season and this might be a sign that the Packers aren’t very confident in him being able to continue his career.
Collins was scheduled to make $3.45 million in 2012 and $4.35 million for the 2013 season.
Former quarterback Borel will compete for a job at receiver
One of the most interesting - albeit hardly one of the most important – battles in training camp figures to be between Diondre Borel and Tori Gurley for the final wide receiver spot on the roster. Both undrafted free agents distinguished themselves last summer and both were given raises by general manager Ted Thompson...
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Looking to fix a defense that struggled mightily during the 2011 season, the Green Bay Packers have selected pass-rushing outside linebacker Nick Perry. Perry, who played three seasons at USC, recorded 9.5 sacks in his junior year while starting all 12 games.Follow Paul Imig on Twitter.
With the 28th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers select, Nick Perry, linebacker, USC.
This is a great pick for Green Bay as they gave up the most yards per game (411.6) and also tied for 27th in the NFL with 29 sacks. They also only had 11 sacks with four or fewer rushers in 2011, putting them 31st in the NFL.
With Clay Matthews being held to only six sacks last...
Check out Packers wide receiver Donald Driver’s sixth dance, on Dancing With the Stars — Donald and Peta were dressed in blue, but the audience sure wasn’t blue after their fine Foxtrot. Another stellar effort as the judges awarded them Trip 9s for a total of 27 for this first dance. -TO
