The Green Bay Packers will square off against the Chicago Bears on Christmas night, a game that has lost some of its luster since the season started.

Unless you live under a rock you have probably heard that the Green Bay Packers bid at a perfect season was taken away after their loss to the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday.

The Packers are still playing for home field advantage through the playoffs but that doesn’t mean the starters will play the whole game so it might take away from some of the excitement of the game.

The Bears have also fallen on some hard times with injuries to some of their key players.  It appears that quarterback Josh McCown will get the start over Caleb Hanie for the Bears, while Jay Cutler remains on the sidelines due to injury.

While I want to say that a team that is struggling and dealing with injuries can’t beat the Packers, I just watched the Chiefs, a team who had suffered some key injuries, beat up the Packers so I won’t be making the same mistake again.

So while it may not be the marquee matchup the NFL had been hoping for it’s still the biggest rivalry game in all the NFL, and with the game on primetime Christmas night both teams will be looking to put on a show.

The Bears are also on a four game losing streak and are coming off a beat down at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks so they will be looking to right the ship and make a late season push for a wildcard spot in the playoffs.

The Packers should be able to win this one.  They are the better team and with the game at home they will have the home crowd behind them.

The Bears strength on offense is running the ball and they do it well.  The Packers should be able to contain the Bears rushing attack and force McCown to beat them in the air, which I don’t believe he can do.  Aaron Rodgers and the rest of the Packers offense should be able to do their thing against the Bears defense.

Last week it seemed that the Chiefs kept the Packers out of their rhythm but I believe the Packers can get back into their rhythm and with the motivation of playing at home on Christmas day the Packers will get back to their winning ways and give Packer fans an extra Christmas gift this year.

Bears will start McCown at quarterback

GREEN BAY, Wis. After losing four consecutive games, Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith has decided to switch quarterbacks. Smith benched Caleb Hanie on Wednesday in favor of Josh McCown. "We felt like we needed a change," Smith said in a teleconference with Packers media, "someone to give us a little bit of a spark. It's time for us to make a move, so we went...

McCown Gets Start Versus Pack

Reeling from a four game losing streak that has diminished their playoff hopes, the Chicago Bears handed the starting quarterback job to veteran journeyman Josh McCown. McCown will replace the ineffective Caleb Hanie Sunday night when the Bears travel to Green Bay to take on the NFC North leading Packers. McCown was signed after Jay Cutler went down in late [...]

Bears to start McCown at QB against Packers

The Chicago Bears announced on Wednesday that Josh McCown will start at quarterback on Sunday night against the Green Bay Packers in Lambeau Field.

SEND IN McCOWN: Even QB and Lovie aren’t too optimistic

When Caleb Hanie replaced Jay Cutler as the Bears’ starting quarterback four weeks ago, he was cracking jokes about Cutler during a spirited news conference and was genuinely excited about the opportunity to become the next Tom Brady. But Josh McCown’s mood was a little more subdued Wednesday when...

McCown gets call to start vs. Packers

The Chicago Bears are making a change at quarterback, switching to Josh McCown after losing the last four games with Caleb Hanie.

What to expect from McCown

The Bears have benched Caleb Hanie in favor of the veteran Josh McCown. With little time to prepare for his role as a starter, what does McCown need to do to be successful?

Three Reasons Why The Packers Will Beat The Bears

The Christmas Day battle with the Bears couldn’t come at a better time for the Packers.  Here are three reasons why Green Bay will emerge triumphant. 1)  These teams know each other. This is the fourth time in 2011 that the Packers and Bears will play, and the Packers have won the other three. Unlike the Chiefs, who last faced the Packers in 2007 with coach Herm Edwards, QB...

The lesson from Josh McHanie (and how the Bears won't learn it)

I’ve been waiting for a “gotcha,’’ but I guess it’s true and official: Bears coach Lovie Smith named Josh McCown to lose to the Packers on Christmas night.
