Packers CB Tramons Williams and S Morgan Burnett will need to be on the same page this Sunday The Green Bay Packers are back in action this week after their bye.  They head to Detroit to face the Lions for just the first time in 2012.  The Lions are coming off a loss to the Minnesota Vikings and have battled inconsistency all season.  They have yet to beat a division opponent and are 0-3 against the North so far. In looking at a breakdown of the key matchups, it is much of the same old story.  Stop either team’s passing attack and you likely win this game.  Here are the areas to watch as Sunday’s game unfolds. Lions WR Calvin Johnson vs. Packers CB Tramon Williams This is becoming an old rivalry.  Since taking over as a starting corner in 2009, Williams has been blanketing Johnson in each matchup.  Minus last season’s finale when the Packers sat many of their starters, Johnson hasn’t had any more than six receptions in a game in which Williams matched up on him.  He did have a two-t...

Exclusive: Pam Oliver corrals Finley

Ahhhs and boos. Those are the two distinct and opposite reactions the home crowd rains down on the same missed opportunity. Popular Green Bay Packers named Jennings, Jordy and James hear the former. The latter may seem reserved solely for embattled tight end Jermichael Finley when he does the same thing . . . drop the rock. Hostile home I first noticed the hostility toward Finley...

'60 Minutes' fires back at Packers' Rodgers

Apparently "60 Minutes" isn't going to sit back and let Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers take shots at it without a response. After Rodgers told the Detroit media in a conference call on Wednesday that his feature story on "60 Minutes" was "cut for their purposes, their agenda," the CBS news magazine fired back at the NFL's Most Valuable...

Cedric Benson hoping to be back by Dec. 9th

It looks like Green Bay Packers running back Cedric Benson’s foot is roughly 65 percent healthy at this point and he’s hoping to be back in time for their December 9th game against the Lions. Benson is currently on the injured reserve with the designation to return with a Lisfranc foot sprain that he suffered back in October.   var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script...

The Green Bay Packers are sticking with struggling kicker Mason Crosby. Coach Mike McCarthy told reporters after the Packers' 24-20 victory over the Detroit Lions on Sunday that the team won't ''blink'' in its commitment to Crosby. 60 Minutes Rips into Aaron Rodgers

I hate that show T… Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was mad as hell at the final cut of his “60 Minutes” appearance last week. The Packers star felt that the final edit fit the show’s “agenda” and was upset it didn’t air a segment where he discussed the MACC Fund charity. instead they opted to talk about Rodgers smalls stature — Today 60 Minutes fired back, and...

Rodgers-to-Cobb TD Extends Win Streak to Five

With their winning streak in jeopardy, Aaron Rodgers led an 82-yard touchdown drive to take the lead, and Green Bay's defense essentially ended the game with a four-and-out. Green Bay won its fifth consecutive game to improve to 7-3. Detroit's season is over at 4-6.

Packers CB Sam Shields Unlikely To Play Vs. Detroit

Initially, the injuries Sam Shields suffered against Houston on Oct. 14 were to his shin and knee but it soon became clear that the worst damage was to the Green Bay Packers cornerback's ankle. Shields said it was fair to characterize the injury as a high ankle sprain, which in most cases takes much longer to heal than a traditional sprain on the outside of the ankle and explains...

Aaron Rodgers Wants to Carry on Photobombing Tradition, Play Stunt on Justin Bieber (Video)

It’s often times lost that Aaron Rodgers attended UC Berkeley for college. While the university has since become one of the top academic institutions in the country, its reputation throughout the years has been of welcoming some of the more bizarre characters ever to attend school. Count Rodgers among them. Ever since his first year in the league, Rodgers has held onto an interesting...

Notes: Missed chances hurt Lions

DETROIT -- The Detroit Lions already know that Jason Hanson is a great field-goal kicker. Now they need to get him more point-after attempts. As bad as the Lions' defense looked in the last few minutes of Sunday's 24-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers, the offense could have helped them out by scoring more when they had the chance. Their first opportunity came in the first...

I’m the leader of the young guys right now and when it comes down to the tough...

Detroit Lions look ahead to Packers

Even at 4-5, with the odds against them, the Detroit Lions won’t quit. I’m sure the attitude of their head coach plays a big part of it, and the tenacity of one veteran is a factor as well. Lions center Dominic Raiola said yesterday that counting the Lions out was “disrespectful” and compared his team to the also-4-and-5 Saints. “But the Saints are 4-5 and they’re right...
