Found September 12, 2012 on The Football Fan Spot:
Last week: 1 (-3) Record: 0-1 The Packers’ defense was too reliant on turnovers last year. I thought they added enough talent and had enough bounce back candidate players to compensate and still be passable defensively, but they sure didn’t look that way against the 49ers. The last 3 times the Packers haven’t forced a turnover, they’ve lost. Every year there’s one team that goes from a first round bye to out of the playoffs. If the Packers don’t fix their defense and fast, they could be that team, as strange as it sounds. Aaron Rodgers is now 1-3 in his last 4 starts and they have a very good Bears team coming to town next week. They can’t afford to drop back-to-back home games to start the season. Studs WR Randall Cobb: 9 catches for 77 yards on 9 targets on 33 pass plays, 6.8 YAC per catch ROLB Clay Matthews: 3 sacks and 1 quarterback hit on 24 pass rush snaps, 3 stops on 33 run snaps SS Charles Woodson: Allowed 1 catch for 10 yards on 2 attempts, 2 sacks on 5 blitzes, 3 solo tack...

When he needs a laugh, Aaron Rodgers relies on the smugness of Alex Trebek

By all indications, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers appears to be an affable fellow with a pretty good sense of humor. In fact, I imagine much like Mitt Romey, Rodgers lives for laughter, but that’s another story altogether. During his Tuesday appearance with Jason Wilde on ESPN Radio Milwaukee, Rodgers discussed a multitude of topics, including Green [...]

Packers’ Jarrett Bush Says The 49ers Really Didn’t Beat Them

I checked the box score again just to be sure and unless I am missing something it does appear the 49ers scored more points than the Packers. Once again, if I am wrong let me know. “We beat ourselves. They really didn’t beat us,” cornerback Jarrett Bush said after the game, via the Green Bay Press-Gazette. “We just have to hunker down and make sure we’re gap sound...

Jennings was officially listed as doubtful for the game against the Chicago Bears. The two-time Pro Bowl selection suffered a groin injury on the final drive of Green Bay's Week 1 loss to the 49ers on Sunday. He has been unable to participate in either practice...

Bears look to put Packers in 0-2 hole

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The oldest rivalry in the NFL has become quite one-sided in recent seasons with the Packers winning four consecutive games, but a Week 2 matchup on Thursday night at Lambeau Field against the Bears could create early separation between the two teams in the NFC North.Green Bay lost at home to the 49ers in Week 1 while Chicago easily took care of the Colts, setting...

Benson faces Bears, Packers need better run game

(Eds: APNewsNow. With AP Photos.) By CHRIS JENKINS AP Sports Writer The Green Bay Packers hoped Cedric Benson quickly would add a new dimension to the offense, helping to revive a running game that often has seemed like an afterthought under Mike McCarthy. In Week 1, Aaron Rodgers was the Packers' leading rusher in a loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Benson had nine carries...

Chicago Bears @ Green Bay Packers

One of the greatest rivalries in sports will be on display Thursday night as we get to experience the Chicago Bears @ Green Bay Packers leading off week 2 of games. Many of you may already know my thoughts on the Bears, I have them winning the Super Bowl after all, but the Packers are the team I picked to have the same record as the Bears just losing out on the division. So when...

Packers panic? Must-win downplayed in Green Bay

GREEN BAY, Wisc. -- From a historical perspective, Sunday's Week 1 loss to San Francisco is a bad omen for the Green Bay Packers. Since the NFL went to a 16-game schedule in 1978, 379 of the 490 Kickoff Weekend losers failed to make the playoffs, a rate of 77.3 percent. For Green Bay, it's even more skewed. Of the 16 Packers teams to lose their opening game, only two rebounded...

Football on Thursday nights will be a regular occurrence this season, with this week’s matchup featuring a classic rivalry. Weaknesses Exposed In Loss To Niners

Starting nickel safety M.D. Jennings struggled in the opener against the 49ers Anyone surprised that the Packers couldn’t stop quarterback Alex Smith and the 49ers’ offense either doesn’t read this blog or didn’t pay enough attention during the month of August. No team has more holes in its nickel and dime packages than Green Bay, and every one of them was exposed on Sunday...

Chicago Bears vs. Green Bay Packers: Brutally Honest Preview

If the 185th installment of the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears works out like it usually does, it should be a great game for NFL Network to kick off their 2012 Thursday Night Football extravaganza. The Bears (1-0) own the all-time edge by six games in the NFL’s oldest and most historic rivalry, but it’s the Packers (0-1) who have won six of the last seven. Chicago Bears...
