Last week: 13 (+4) Record: 5-3 I wasn’t impressed with the Packers’ performance last week and they’re awfully banged up, but I’m moving them back into the playoffs for now. Every year, one team goes from a 1st round bye to out of the playoffs. Right now, I have the Ravens as that team, but the Packers are still a candidate. However, they could easily be 7-1 and even at 5-3, they would still be in the playoffs if the season ended today. The NFC no longer seems as daunting overall after a 1-3 week against the AFC (the Packers’ unimpressive win over the Jaguars was the 1), after starting the year 19-9. Green Bay Packers Studs C Jeff Saturday: Did not allow a pressure on 40 pass block snaps, run blocked for 30 yards on 10 attempts CB Casey Hayward: Allowed 4 catches for 29 yards on 9 attempts, 7 solo tackles, 1 assist, 5 stops CB Tramon Williams: Allowed 3 catches for 30 yards on 9 attempts, 1 pass deflection, 3 solo tackle, 1 stop SS Morgan Burnett: Allowed 4 catches for 62 yards on 7 ...

Green & Pack O-line searching for rhythm

Growing up as the fourth of five brothers, Green Bay Packers running back Alex Green transferred the competitive spirit between him and his siblings to fuel his football career. Green also knows that developing a close relationship with members of his gridiron family is vital to his NFL success. That's why Green is hoping to build tighter bonds with his offensive line to help...

Packers Prefer Alex Green Over Trade Options

Packers’ beat writer Tom Silverstein writes that Alex Green will remain the team’s starting running back, despite his recent struggles. Green Bay has consistently been linked to a number of trade options including Steven Jackson and DeAngelo Williams, but Silverstein adds that GM Ted Thompson prefers to maintain his cap space, so that he can address some of their big name...

Alex Green Still Packers' Starting RB

Packers coach Mike McCarthy still wants running back Alex Green to be his lead running back going forward, according to team beat writer Tom Silverstein.Fantasy Spin:In the last three games Green only has 154 yards on 64 carries (2.4 ypc). McCarthy has stated he needs to see improvement in the team's running game but he clearly favors Green over James Starks (one carry Sunday...

Despite struggles, Packers committed to run

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Commitment to the running game? Check. Production in the running game? Not so much. The Packers' 26th-ranked rushing attack has been trending in the wrong direction over the past three weeks. Since Cedric Benson's Lisfranc foot injury in Week 5 in Indianapolis, it's been mostly a struggle for Green Bay to get anything going on the ground. Second-year...

Green, Offensive Line Carry Run Game Burden

Over the last three weeks, the Packers rank 30th in yards per carry, and the lack of first-down success could be a major issue against Arizona. For Alex Green, the issue is finding the right tempo; for the offensive line, it's about fundamentals.

It wasn't pretty, but a win is a win for Packers

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- It was an ugly win for the Packers. Or, in Jermichael Finleys words, a real nasty win. It wasnt the type of game that the team will look back on with pride, but Green Bay (now 5-3) hit the midway point of its season with its third consecutive victory. Handing out grades following the Packers 24-15 win over the Jaguars: Passing Offense: B- Playing without top...

Fantasy Football Week 9 Sleepers: Alex Green, Larod Stephens-Howling, and Greg Olsen

With the fantasy football season approaching its latter stages, sleepers are becoming few and far between. By now, most of the surprise or low-profile fantasy studs have been picked up and invested in by owners in most leagues. But as always, there are still some sleepers out there, and here are a few I find most valuable in week 9: Alex Green, Green Bay Packers Although he...

Packers' Finley: Why not pass every play?

GREEN BAY, Wis. Packers coach Mike McCarthy has shown a dedication to the running game this season, much to the delight of the team's offensive linemen. But not every player agrees with that approach. With Green Bay passing the ball on 60.3 percent of plays, tight end Jermichael Finley thinks that number should be higher. "If the running game isn't going, why not...

Packers Will Get James Starks Involved In The Running Game This Weekend

According to Pete Dougherty of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, Packers RB James Starks  is expected to get “his share of touches” against the Cardinals this weekend. Alex Green‘s dismal performance against the Jaguars was enough for head coach Mike McCarthy to express his concern publicly. On the season, Green is averaging just 2.9 yards per carry, so it makes sense that...

Aaron Rodgers, Packers dissatisfied with running game

The Green Bay Packers are on a roll lately, having won three games in a row to improve to 5-3. Though the team appears to be coming together, the running game is still lagging. The Packers are 26th in the league in rushing with 90.1 yards per game. That poor stat is still the case despite the team being 17th in the league with 195 attempts. Second-year running back Alex Green has...
