With Brett Favre, no one ever really knows. He was supposedly washed up and past his playing days the last couple of times he made returns to the NFL, so it wasn’t completely ridiculous when the report floating around that he has “blacksmith’s arms” (because blacksmiths are good at football) attracted so much attention. But as people try to put a lid on the latest Favre speculation — including Favre’s agent, Bus Cook, who was the one making the original comments — another person close to the source is moving in to quiet the crowd. Vikings receiver Greg Jennings was asked about the Favre rumors Wednesday morning, and he treated the report as many a rational soul did this week: He laughed. But Jennings may have more of an inside track than the other professionals insisting Favre’s career is really, really done. Favre and Jennings had a bond that extended past their time together on the Packers. Jennings has said Favre was a driving force in him signing with Minnesota, saying Favre “sh...

Brett Favre's agent Bus Cook: Quarterback could still play today

Brett Favre will be turning 44 next month and has enough gray hair to kill it in a “Just for Men” commercial. Vikings, Ponder concerned fractured rib could protrude into his heart

Despite experiencing no issues during practice on Thursday, the Minnesota Vikings sat Christian Ponder on Friday and the quarterback will not play in the team’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in London on Sunday. The reins of the sputtering, ineffective offense have instead been given to backup Matt Cassel. While Vikings fans have been clamoring […]The post Christian Ponder...

NFL Rumors: Brett Farve to return to the NFL?

It’s been a few seasons since we have had a Brett Favre story, and with Tim Tebow riding off into the sunset, so why not? Favre has dropped off the radar screen on the NFL world, and given the new, upstart 24 hour sports networks, I’m surprised that he hasn’t resurfaced as a commentator on one of them. His agent did manage to get his name back in the news this afternoon though...

The annual ‘Brett Favre can still play’ story has arrived

It seems that every season Brett Favre thrusts himself into NFL headlines one way or another. Whether it’s talking about beating the Saints in the season opener despite being “retired” in 2010 or letting speculation about a return in 2011 run rampant, Favre just loves being in the headlines. The 2013 version of this comes from Favre’s agent, Bus Cook. And the first thing...

Week 4 Against the Spread picks – Brett Favre Edition

There is only one way the Brett Favre comeback rumors will ever cease – when No. 4 goes six feet under. Other than that, forget about it. He’s riding his bike 30-50 miles a day, running another 4-5 miles, and his body fat is down to 7.5 percent, according to his agent, Bus Cook. The great ones never believe their time is truly past.  Jim Brown retired from the Cleveland Browns...

Five Quarterbacks About To Become Unemployed

There are a handful of football players who have a long and prosperous career in the NFL, much like Brett Favre or Randy Moss. Sometimes these careers can span more than a decade and include several teams in that time span. For others, their careers never really get off the ground, and while they may taste a brief glimpse of stardom, do not live up to the expectations of their talent...

Brett Favre isn’t making a comeback and we won’t have to deal with the media circus or waffling decisions but if he wanted to play, he could play, according to Bus Cook. “Today, he could play today,” Cook said Monday night, via the Mobile Press-Register. “I saw him the other day. He’s in the best shape I’ve ever seen him in, physically.” It’s probably possible...
