Originally written July 02, 2013 on The Bay Cave:
It started at the combine where a report surfaced that Bucs brass was not on board with Josh Freeman as their quarterback. Since then, head coach Greg Schiano has done nothing but express his support for him. Making a guest appearance on NFL Network’s “NFL Total Access,” the second-year head coach once again answered the “Who’s your quarterback” question. We only have one, it’s Josh Freeman. I believe in competition, and Mike Glennon is going to be a tremendous quarterback in his time. But we have a quarterback, it’s Josh Freeman. He had a really good spring, I mean a really good spring. I think it’s really coming together, being in this system for a second year now and hearing the things over again after being able to study it, I’m really encouraged. I know Mike Sullivan, our offensive coordinator, he’s encouraged. We’re looking forward to big things. Josh is going to have a big year. Why several outlets continue to press the issue on a potential controversy at the position is unfathomable. Glennon has had some difficulties this offseason and so far looks like what he is, a rookie — respectfully. The Bucs will go into this season with Freeman at the helm. Like what the initial plan has been all along.
