Still No Consensus on Chiefs #1 Pick
by Lenny Pappano
The Kansas City Chiefs aren’t your typical team picking #1 overall in the NFL Draft.
Sure, they posted a miserable 2-14 record last season. But they also sent 6 players to the Pro Bowl – unprecedented for a team holding the first pick. That was more than the Bengals, Colts, Falcons, Packers and Redskins, all playoff teams. In fact, taking a closer look at their roster, it’s hard to identify many glaring needs.
Just a few short weeks ago, QB was atop the list. That issue was solved by trading for former Forty-Niners QB Alex Smith, and punting incumbent Matt Cassel to the Vikings. The trade for Smith negated any need to reach for a QB in the draft.
