Photo via Seahawks.com After days of rumors and snubs, a seeming lack of urgency on the part of the front office, and about 3,000 too-many mentions of the name "Gruden", the Eagles finally have their next head coach. Possibly. But, they definitely do. Maybe. According to former NFL-er Kevin O'Connell of San Diego's 1360 AM, Seattle defensive coordinator Gus Bradley is on his way to Philadelphia not for a second interview, but for contract talk. At last, the Eagles have their coach--a defensive-minded one who is not Bill Cowher or Brian Kelly or Bill O'Brien, too, thank god! BUT WAIT. Before you break out the midnight-green confetti and erect a shrine to Buddy Ryan (just kidding, we all know you already have a shrine to Buddy Ryan), Geoff Mosher is here to ruin your day with his usually dilligent reporting on Comcast Sportsnet: Gus Bradley will have his second meeting with the Eagles today and remains high on their list of candidates to replace Andy Reid but reports that a deal is nearly complete are greatly exaggerated and premature, a league source told CSNPhilly.com.Bradley is currently en route from Seattle to Philadelphia on owner Jeffrey Lurie’s private jet and will land sometime later this afternoon to continue an interview that started Saturday in Atlanta but warranted more time for discussion. Damn you, Geoff. But surely this is a case of he said she said, right? In the case of Local Eagles Beat Writer vs. Some Dude On Twitter From San Diego Radio, I'm going with the latter ... because Howard Eskin, that bastion of likeability, says Gus Bradley is going to be the next coach, too! Or not, according to a more recent tweet from Eskin: Gus Bradley is NOW in Phl w #eagles front office of Lurie, Roseman and Smolenski for 2nd round of talks. #GusBus So it's settled. Gus Bradley is definitely, maybe, for sure, possibly the Eagles new head coach.

Eagles reportedly felt Jon Gruden would be too high maintenance

During an appearance on Inside the Locker Room with Rick “Doc” Walker  and Brian Mitchell of ESPN 980, Walker asked Howard Eskin of WIP in Philly why the Eagles never pursued Jon Gruden. “The Eagles internally felt Jon was too high maintenance.  They looked at the way it ended for him in Tampa…….They thought he’d be too high maintenance,” said Eskin. Gruden seems...

The Eagles Stumble with Chip Kelly hire

It was announced earlier today that the Philadelphia Eagles have hired Chip Kelly to be there next head coach. I guess owner Jeffrey Loria finally came to this conclusion - that Kelly would be his best choice - after interviewing almost every available recently fired coach or assistant in the NFL over the last two weeks. So is this a good hire or bad hire?Completely awful. "...

Michael Vick likely done in Philly, even with addition of Chip Kelly

Howard Eskin of WIP in Philadelphia was a guest on ESPN 980′s Inside the Lockerroom and indicated that even though Chip Kelly is now the Eagles’ head coach, quarterback Michael Vick is still likely on the way out. “People say maybe Mike Vick can be his (Kelly’s) quarterback. Michael Vick won’t be here.  He gets hurt every year. You got to move on from Michael Vick, and...

Chipity flip flop: Philadelphia hires Chip Kelly as head coach

The Eagles finally got off the pot and in a big way landing their top choice in their coaching search, Oregon’s Chip Kelly. ESPN’s Chris Mortensen confirmed on Wednesday that Kelly had taken the job. Neither the Eagles’ nor Oregon University has confirmed the news, but reports have since surfaced that Kelly has accepted the Eagles’ offer. Kelly is 46-7 in four years at...

Gang Green defense to return to Philly as eagles close to signing Gus Bradley

Last night Howard Eskin reported that the Eagles will soon be signing a deal to make Seattle’s Gus Bradley Head Coach. In what we should clearly be excited about, the new Gang Green Defense! Bradley helped lead Seattle to the playoffs with the number four ranked defense and number one scoring defense. A huge departure from the offense first under Andy Reid, Jeff Lurie said that...

Eagles, Gus Bradley not a done deal yet

It was reported earlier that Gus Bradley will be the Philadelphia Eagles’ new head coach.  It looks like that report was premature. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Bradley will arrive in Philly today for a second interview and is also scheduled to meet with the Jaguars. https://mobile.twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/291215779100241921 Even though nothing is certain, I think...

Andy Reid ready for new challenges with Chiefs

Fired after 14 years with the Philadelphia Eagles in his first head coaching position, Andy Reid will take over for Romeo Crennel in Kansas City. The Chiefs finished the 2012 season 2-14, their worst season in franchise history. Andy Reid is a man of many words. He just never says anything significant. After 14 seasons, five NFC championship appearances and one loss in the Super...

Help Us Gus Bradley, You’re Our Only Hope

Last season was hell for Philadelphia Eagles fans. The team started well, and then it was clear they were lousy. Andy Reid and all the feelings toward him became the topic of discussion. Week after week, the Reid questions continued. With each week, the product on the field became worse. There was nowhere to turn [...]The post Help Us Gus Bradley, You’re Our Only Hope appeared...

Eagles confirm they interviewed Ken Whisenhunt

According to Mike Garafolo of USA Today Sports, the Philadelphia Eagles have not confirmed that they interviewed former Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt. Whisenhunt has now met with four teams and in my opinion is one of the best available candidates.   Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document...

E-A-G-L-E-S – Why Philly Can’t Find a New Coach?

Q.   What do you call 47 millionaires sitting around a TV watching the Super Bowl? A.   The Philadelphia Eagles.   Q.   What do the Philadelphia Eagles and Billy Graham...

‘Bout time (some) NFL teams went outside the box
