It’s not the lop-sided affair that many expected. AT least, not yet. After 30 minutes of play, it’s Patriots 17, Colts 3. It was a slow start for the Patriots, getting an early field goal, then standing for 10 minutes as the Colts kept the ball on a lengthy field goal drive. Finally, tied at 3, they got it together. Using their hurry-up look, they drove 86 yards in 16 plays, taking a 10-3 lead thanks to an 11-yard score by TE Rob Gronkowski and his epic spike. After a brutally terrible three-and-out for the Colts, the Pats ruled the two-minute drive to go up 17-3 after a BenJarvus Green-Ellis 1-yard score to cap a 64-yard march. QB Tom Brady is 16 of 21 for 158 yards and a TD, while Wes Welker has five catches for 67 yards. Gronkowski has three catches for 34 yards. Oh, and Chad Ochocinco has a 12-yard catch. He also couldn’t come up with a long one on the sidelines.  As for the Colts, Dan Orlovsky is 7 of 11 for 73 yards, and RB Joseph Addai has nine rushes for 18...

Video of the day: Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski talks about losing his record and winning the game

Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski was celebrated in yesterday’s 31-24 win over the Colts for setting the single-season TD record for tight ends. Then, he had it taken away, which he took in stride. It was a weird day for Gronk, and he was only 1 of 3 on Gronk Spikes. In my video, he explained it all:

Patriots' Gronkowski ties NFL TE touchdowns mark

Rob Gronkowski tied the NFL record for touchdowns by a tight end on Sunday. With two scores against the woeful Indianapolis Colts, the New England Patriots star has 13 on the season. He is now tied with Vernon Davis of the San Francisco 49ers (2009) and Antonio Gates of the San Diego Chargers (2004) for the honor. Another Rob Gronkowski touchdown has Patriots on top

In his first half as Colts defensive coordinator, Mike Murphy pushed a lot of the right buttons. His defense held the Patriots in check on their first two drives and showed a lot more fight than we’ve seen on that side of the ball in a few weeks from Indianapolis, but there’s still work to…

Kuharsky: pass D needs work

The Patriots had a good day against the reeling Colts pass defense: What I didn’t like: The Patriots top two passing targets had their way with the Colts. Wes Welker was targeted by Brady 11 times and caught the pass all 11 times. Tight end Rob Gronkowski had two receiving touchdowns and one on what was judged to be a lateral. The Patriots scored on four touchdowns and a field...
