Ken Hamlin has earned a reputation for laying crunching hits during his eight-year career.
The former Pro Bowl safety played physically during practice Thursday and has trouble saving the big blows for exhibition games leading up to the regular season.
āIām not a guy to wait for a preseason game,ā he said. āBut Iām excited about the season getting started, everything picking up. When we get to these preseason games, itās going to be important for us to jell together and come together as one.ā
Now with his third NFL team, Hamlin is adjusting to the Ravens' 3-4 defense after playing in a similar scheme the past three seasons in Dallas. Even with schemesā similarities, he still has adjustments to make because safeties have different responsibilities in the Ravens' version of the 3-4.
In his first season with the Ravens, he prefers to lead through his actions, not through his words.
