Jets running back Chris Ivory remains sidelined with a hamstring injury but said he expects to play Saturday against the Jaguars. Ivory has not practiced fully in training camp. He participated in positional drills yesterday but spent time with the trainers when the rest of the team was going through the team portion. In April the Jets acquired Ivory hoping he would solidify their running game. So far he has been stuck on the sidelines. Ivory said he’ll be ready when the doctors give him the go-ahead. “It’s always the goal to get back but like I said wWhen I get back I want to be healthy” Ivory said “and also when I get back I want to make sure I am mentally sharp with what I’m doing when I touch the field and get ready to run plays.” * Running back Joe McKnight who has been dealing with a concussion practiced but had on a red jersey signaling no contact. McKnight met with reporters after practice but did not have much to say. In the uncomfortable three-minute session McKnight ...

New York Jets Training Camp – Tight End Power Rankings

As the Jets entered Cortland, they had arguably one of the most questionable tight end units in the entire NFL. While their not fielding an All-Pr stocked unit, things are looking up after the first preseason game. With three new faces fighting for a spot on the roster at tight end, a former rugby player, a former wide out, and one of Sanchez’s high school teammates, the group...

2013 New York Jets Defensive Line: The Sum of The Parts

The defensive line of the 2013 New York Jets has gotten an agglomeration of hype from pundits and fans alike and is expected to be a bright spot on a team of unknowns. However, observers at every level have been putting square pegs into round holes when it comes to the men in the trenches. Most envision a starting line up in either a 3-4 or 4-3 formation, with players pigeonholed...

Jets' Ryan answers criticism over not watching QBs

Rex Ryan wasn't sure what all the fuss was about. Sure, the New York Jets coach missed a few plays by his quarterbacks as he focused on the defense in the preseason opener at Detroit on Friday night. But Ryan says that's not unlike every other NFL coach - it's just that he wasn't afraid to say it. Ryan took some criticism after the game when he said he didn'...

Jets WR Holmes unsure about return

New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes says he is ''getting better'' but not sure when he'll be able to play as he rehabilitates a foot injury that's sidelined him since early last season. Holmes, on the physically unable to perform list, says he's looking at his return to the football field on a ''day to day'' basis. However, the...

Lots of questions, no answers at running back position

One preseason game, and we're not any closer to knowing what the New York Jets' Week 1 running back depth chart will look like. In fact, we may be even further from an answer than earlier this offseason.  Today, trade acquisition Chris Ivory practiced, fully, for the first time. Ivory expects to play against the Jaguars on Saturday, but is not a lock to lead the Jets...

New York Jets fall short in preseason opener

The New York Jets lost to the Detroit Lions 26-17 in the preseason opener Friday night at Ford Field. Jet fans might of turned the TV off after Mark Sanchez opened up the first drive with a pick six, something that has become too much of a norm when watching Sanchez. However, Sanchez responded after throwing the interception and ended up 10 of 13 for 125 yards and a touchdown. Sanchez...

What the First Preseason Game Taught Us

I chose not to write a full-on recap, as I feel preseason games, especially the first one of the year, is over-analyzed. Players still work to get into top, football shape, learn the playbook, and become comfortable with the season's team. So, I'll stick to what I took away, that matters. New York Jets 2013 NFL Season Preview

Introduction Ah, the Jets. The media’s punching bag. I’ll admit, they’re fun to make fun of, leading the NFL in butt fumbles and what not, but they’re not the worst team in the NFL, as they’re often made out to be. They have talent, mostly on the defensive side of the ball. Darrelle Revis is gone, but he played all of 93 snaps with the team last season and they still played...

Ex-teammates Revis, Tebow adjusting to new cities

(Eds: APNewsNow. Will be updated. With AP Photos.) By MATTHEW CARROLL Associated Press A year ago, Darrelle Revis and Tim Tebow were teammates with the New York Jets, Revis vying to live up to his billing as the best cornerback in the NFL, and Tebow just trying to prove he can play quarterback in the league. A lot has changed since. Revis and Tebow are both adapting to life with...
