Veteran defensive backs Joselio Hanson and O.J. Atogwe were among 19 players released by the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday.
Hanson spent the last six seasons in Philadelphia and was the team's nickel cornerback. Atogwe signed as a free agent in the offseason, but couldn't crack the starting lineup at safety.
Wide receivers Chad Hall, Mardy Gilyard and Marvin McNutt and linebacker Keenan Clayton are other notables on the cut list. The Eagles still must make three more moves to reach the 53-player limit.
Tight ends Brett Brackett and Chase Ford, defensive tackles Ollie Ogbu, Frank Trotter and Landon Cohen, fullback Emil Igwenagu, tackle D.J. Jones, linebackers Adrian Moten and Ryan Rau, defensive end Monte Taylor, safety Phillip Thomas and offensive linemen Steve Vallos and Brandon Washington also were released.

Reid enters his 14th season as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles with no promises he'll be back for No. 15. In fact, owner Jeffrey Lurie made it clear the Eagles must win for Reid to keep his job.
''We need substantial improvement,'' Lurie said. ''As I said...
The Eagles, like the rest of the NFL trimmed their roster to 53 players yesterday. There weren’t too many surprises, but a couple of names have been around town for a while and will now be looking for new homes. Another player found a new home in Philly.
Mike Kafka, who was named the #2 QB on the team at the start of OTAs lost his job. Nick Foles, the rookie out of Arizona won...
As the Eagles 53 man roster starts to take shape, I’m glad to see they cut Chad Hall. I have nothing against Hall, and he’s a very likeable guy, but one of the major problems the Eagles have had under this regime at times is a severe lack of talent evaluation. Chad Hall is simply not an NFL caliber player, and the Eagles have carried guys like him on their roster for far too...

All players were previously a part of the roster before the team’s NFL mandated cut to a 53-man roster on Friday. League sources also say that DE Frank Trotter has been signed to the PS, according to CSNPhilly.

It’s the final night of preseason football and for many, that is a sigh of relief. For others, however, it is the last opportunity they will have to prove their worth on their respective team’s roster.
