Veteran defensive backs Joselio Hanson and O.J. Atogwe were among 19 players released by the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday.
Hanson spent the last six seasons in Philadelphia and was the team's nickel cornerback. Atogwe signed as a free agent in the offseason, but couldn't crack the starting lineup at safety.
Wide receivers Chad Hall, Mardy Gilyard and Marvin McNutt and linebacker Keenan Clayton are other notables on the cut list. The Eagles still must make three more moves to reach the 53-player limit.
Tight ends Brett Brackett and Chase Ford, defensive tackles Ollie Ogbu, Frank Trotter and Landon Cohen, fullback Emil Igwenagu, tackle D.J. Jones, linebackers Adrian Moten and Ryan Rau, defensive end Monte Taylor, safety Phillip Thomas and offensive linemen Steve Vallos and Brandon Washington also were released.

After a very aggressive offseason prior to the 2011-2012 NFL season – including signing Pro Bowl cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha – the Philadelphia Eagles were thought to be one of the more likely Super Bowl contenders.
Quarterback Vince Young, who the team had signed to back up the reborn Mike Vick, labeled the team as a “dream team” before they’d even hit the field as a unit...
Still reeling from personal tragedy, Andy Reid now faces his toughest personal challenge.
Reid enters his 14th season as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles with no promises he'll be back for No. 15. In fact, owner Jeffrey Lurie made it clear the Eagles must win for Reid to keep his job.
''We need substantial improvement,'' Lurie said. ''As I said...
If the Eagles are going to be a Super Bowl team this season, it will be on the back of Michael Vick.
We expect Michael Vick to have terrific year, Jeffrey Lurie said at Lincoln Financial Field, before the Eagles final preseason game against the Jets. Thats why hes the starting quarterback. Thats why hes been signed for a number of years. I have to say that Michael...
Just stopped by for a Gatorade Juan…
LeSean McCoy can’t even stop by a Circle K for a Gatorade without attracting attention to himself. That’s what happens when you are a stud RB playing for the Eagles. McCoy is part of the Three Amigo fantasy RBs that everyone coveted in drafts. With the Eagles paying their young back big bucks this offseason, you know they love him...

The Eagles, like the rest of the NFL trimmed their roster to 53 players yesterday. There weren’t too many surprises, but a couple of names have been around town for a while and will now be looking for new homes. Another player found a new home in Philly.
Mike Kafka, who was named the #2 QB on the team at the start of OTAs lost his job. Nick Foles, the rookie out of Arizona won...
As the Eagles 53 man roster starts to take shape, I’m glad to see they cut Chad Hall. I have nothing against Hall, and he’s a very likeable guy, but one of the major problems the Eagles have had under this regime at times is a severe lack of talent evaluation. Chad Hall is simply not an NFL caliber player, and the Eagles have carried guys like him on their roster for far too...
The Eagles reportedly were trying to trade quarterback Mike Kafka but were apparently unable to find a partner so they released him according to Geoff Mosher of CSNPhilly.com.
"In the end, we had to make the difficult decision to let Mike Kafka go," Eagles coach Andy Reid said. "Mike is a class act, a student of the game and a great person and I think will have no...
The Eagles acquired safety David Sims from the Browns late Friday evening for a conditional draft pick. To make room on their newly-sculpted 53-man roster, they released Julian Vandervelde.
Solid tackler, can play on special team, said general manager Howie Roseman. Hes a guy that weve been following throughout the course of this preseason.
