There has been plenty of debate over Joe Flacco this off-season. Is he really an “elite” quarterback? (I’ve come to loathe that term) It seems that at times it climbed to an almost ridiculous and surreal level as anyone with a microphone or who used to sling the pigskin for a living was weighing in on the Jersey native.

My main point about him was that he never has been given the leeway that  many of his contemporaries have been. When I say contemporaries I mean quarterbacks his age like Matt Ryan, and Aaron Rodgers not players like Peyton Manning or Tom Brady. I have also never quite gotten over Cam Cameron’s statement about a year ago that audibles were “overrated”. So how could compare Flacco with any of these quarterbacks when he has restrictions placed on him?

Well finally it looks like things are going to change, at least if Head Coach John Harbaugh has his way. He says that Flacco will be able to exert more control on plays and changing what is called when he sees fit.

I hate to be pessimistic but I’ll believe it when I see it. Then again if this offense does not improve in 2011 then Cam Cameron will be out of a job.
