Is Philadelphia Eagles CB Cary Williams selfish, not committed to the team or just “keepin’ it real?”  Williams has come under scrutiny recently for missing some voluntary OTAs and felt he had to defend himself not once, but twice. When he first spoke about it, he said things about being a family man and being there for his three year-old daughter.  Nobody can argue with that reasoning for missing “voluntary” things. However, he also offered the excuse of having to pick out sconces for the new house he is having built.  That drew some “huh?” reactions from the fans and media and was mostly seen as an inadequate (or ridiculous) reason to miss time with the team. Photo: Howard Smith, USA TODAY Sports Missing a voluntary camp is one of those borderline negative things for a pro football player, unless he has what is generally seen as a “good excuse.”  Yes, technically they’re voluntary, but the purpose of them is to get better as a team. That’s why most players on every team attend these

  • You will learn soon that Williams was togh on the Ravens but will be average on the Eagles. With no pass rush this guy is not that good.

Cary Williams doesn’t care what the Eagles think about him skipping OTA’s

Eagles cornerback Cary Williams has made it clear that he doesn’t that he missed a good portion of OTA’s to take care of some family business. “Teams, organizations, the NFL itself hold players captive over the OTAs,” Williams told Mike Missanelli, of 97.5 The Fanatic in Philly, via  “They say it’s not mandatory but it’s mandatory, you know what...

Eagles QB Competition: Is Michael Vick Just Frustrated or Afraid to Lose?

With his latest comments, Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick is not helping his chances to be the starter come opening day.  He’d rather it be decided before the pads come on and the competition really heats up. Photo: Matt Rourke/AP Geoff Mosher of CSNPhilly had some interesting quotes by Vick from an interview yesterday as mini-camp was wrapping up… “Hopefully, Chip makes...

Philadelphia media getting impatient with Michael Vick: ‘Vick still doesn’t get it’

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback may have a good reason for asking a starter to be named, he’s not winning the QB competition. Reports are fellow QB Nick Foles has been better, showing a good command of the offense, so that could be the root cause for his comments. Either way, Vick isn’t making many friends in the Philly media as headlines such as: "Vick still doesn&...

Cary Williams doesn’t care how Eagles feel about missing OTAs

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Cary Williams says he doesn’t care if his new team doesn’t like that he’s not at voluntary team activities. “I really don’t care. I told them what the situation was and we had a communication and that’s what it was,” said Williams on the ”The Mike

Revisiting the Eagles' 2-deep chart...and a hoo-rah for Teen Wolff...

A lot of moving parts, a very fluid picture... but if you had to paint a portrait of the post-minicamp Eagles in 1st and 2nd-team colors, it might look like this:   Quarterback 1) Michael Vick 1a) Nick Foles 3) Matt Barkley Running Back 1) LeSean McCoy 2) Bryce Brown Tight End 1) Brent Celek 2) James Casey 2a) Zach Ertz Wide Receiver 1 ...

Chip Kelly leading Eagles into new era

It’s been five months since the Philadelphia Eagles hired Chip Kelly as their new head coach; and in that time we have already seen sweeping changes inside and outside of the NovaCare Complex training facility. Former top free agents and veterans such as Cullen Jenkins, Nnamdi Asomugha, and Mike Patterson have been shown the door and new, young talent has been given the opportunity...

Schefter: Vick favorite to win Eagles starting job

ESPN’s Adam Schefter feels like Michael Vick has to be considered the favorite right now to win the Eagles starting quarterback job because of how much money he’s scheduled to make in 2013 and the fact that he’s more experienced and more talented than the other quarterbacks on their roster. It ultimately makes the most sense for Vick to start.  The preseason will give Chip...

Philadelphia Eagles Potential Breakout Player of 2013: Fletcher Cox

The great thing about the NFL is that there are so many positions that every year, there is almost always at least one player who has a breakout year on every team, no matter how good or bad the team is. This is one part in a 32 part segment detailing one potential breakout player (rookies don’t count) for the 2013 NFL season on each NFL team. For the Philadelphia Eagles, that...

Mark Eckel says Michael Vick is not a happy minicamper...

Personally I think Chip Kelly is playing mind games with Mike Vick, trying to inspire Mike to put all his eggs into a total basket of winning football in 2013... I think Kelly wants Vick to feel the doubt and the "try-out" angst of having to make a football team again...perhaps for the first time since Mike was in junior high school. How else would you explain...

Eagles relying on unique approach on offense

The Philadelphia Eagles gambled their short-term future when they hired Chip Kelly as their head coach. Kelly brings with him an offense that is unlike anything present in the NFL before him, and if it fails, it'll likely be unlike anything that follows. The high-octane scheme has been described as being innovation as well as gimmicky. The truth will likely be known at the...

Banking on a healthy Jason Peters for the Eagles Offense...

You can try to determine the metrics of who plays QB#1 and who fits in best at other offensive positions with Chip Kelly's spread offense, but the simple fact is a healthy Jason Peters at left tackle will be the difference-maker... This guy was born to play winning football at left tackle in the NFL... If he's as ready to go as he says he is, then half the battle...

NFL Rumors: Chicago, Philadelphia look towards hosting a Super Bowl

This year, the culmination of the 2013 NFL season will feature a Super Bowl of historic proportion. For the first time, the league has opted to place the game in an outdoor, cold weather location instead of sunny California, Florida or an indoor stadium. Many are watching this game with baited breath, wondering how the league will pull it off and how the weather will impact the events...
