Many fans and analysts have been saying that Curtis Painter clearly showed more than Kerry Collins in his brief time as QB. Is that true? We'll let the numbers decide. The following stats cover all Indy drives except end of half drives where no attempt to score was made. Thanks to Joe Baker for running the numbers. Look to answer the following questions: Was Collins improving at all? Remember that the rough first start should be weighing down his numbers in theory. Was Painter doing things that Collins had not done? I've included Indy's 2010 numbers for context. Yards/Drive HOU CLE Pitt TB Total Collins 17.8 22.3 29.6 -- 24.7 Painter -- -- 25 29.9 28.6 2010 36.04 Painter was better overall, but the same as Collins against Pittsburgh. Collins was showing a clear upward trend.

The Indianapolis Colts haven't officially announced their starting quarterback for Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs, but Kerry Collins is still trying to recover from a concussion he sustained two weeks ago on a hit by Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Farrior.

Colts QB Curtis Painter Likely To Start Against Chiefs

Kerry Collins is recovering from a concussion that forced him to miss last week's game against Tampa Bay and is unlikely to be ready to play Sunday against the Chiefs in Indianapolis according to Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star. TAMPA - Quarterback Kerry Collins and wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez were among the Indianapolis Colts' inactives for tonight's game against Tampa Bay at Raymond James Stadium.

Remedial School

We all went to school last night to re-learn the same lessons from last week. The Colts need a quarterback. For reasons I can't fathom, Indy fans mostly seem up in arms about the defense today. The same defense that was on the field at a nearly a 2:1 clip and played it's wounded guts out is generating the bulk of the complaints. By the same token, the quarterback who...

Big Tentacles: Russell Wilson, Pat Fitzgerald, and...Kerry Collins?

(Big Tentacles is the SWRT look at the Big Ten and the schools it not-so-secretly covets.) Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson is the new Heisman Trophy frontrunner. Because Tom Dienhart said so. (Rivals.com) The Payback. Michigan will get a $4.7 million-dollar payout from its neutral-site game against Alabama at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas next year. (CBS Sports) Money...

Looks as if Chiefs will see Painter at QB for Colts

Kind of odd watching the Colts play the other night without Peyton Manning at quarterback. But he's out, and apparently Kerry Collins still is, too.

Buc Wild: Bucs squeak past Colts

Whew. That was too close. Here’s the quick summary: missed opportunities, blown plays on defense, a ton of penalties, and as per normal 4th quarter heroics. I said in my preview that every year the Bucs lose a game they shouldn’t and this was sure looked like it was going to be this one. First let me give credit where it’s due. Curtis Painter played a pretty good...

Colts Release Their Monday Night Football Inactives Vs. Buccaneers

Colts declared QB Kerry Collins, WR Anthony Gonzalez, QB Peyton Manning, CB Kevin Thomas, LB Ernie Sims, RG Ryan Diem, and DT Fili Moala inactive for Monday night's game against Tampa Bay. Moala, in some circles regarded as the Colts' best defensive tackle, is inactive because of an ankle injury. His absence could make life a bit easier on LeGarrette Blount on up-the-middle...

Eyeing Down the Opponent: The Colts

When given the ball, Wayne is still a playmakerTonight’s game is a fairly even match up.  The Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the Indianapolis Colts at a sold out Raymond James Stadium.  Both teams have struggled to get things going this season and have similar rankings and statistics in ever category.  Another thing these teams share in common is the importance of getting a win in...
