Just how bad have things gotten for the New York Jets? A 4-7 record is pretty bad. A 49-19 loss at home to a division rival is really bad. Losing Fireman Ed’s endorsement is catastrophic. According to Newsday, Fireman Ed was seen leaving at halftime of New York’s blowout loss to the New England Patriots on Thursday when the Jets were trailing 35-3. He reportedly did not return. Maybe Ed had a family emergency or something extremely important that he needed to tend to. Just because he is arguably the biggest Jets fan on the planet and leads 80,000 people in the J-E-T-S JETS, JETS, JETS chant doesn’t mean he has no responsibilities outside of MetLife Stadium. But a family emergency wouldn’t help explain why he deleted his Twitter account. Fireman Ed’s Twitter account — where he recently blasted the NY Daily News for its story about anonymous Jets players ripping Tim Tebow — was also deactivated at some point during Thursday’s loss. Perhaps he was just furious and will get over it, but...

Ed Anzalone quitting as ‘Fireman Ed,’ will remain Jets fan

How bad has this season been for the New York Jets? So bad that it convinced Ed Anzalone, aka “Fireman Ed,” to step away from his post as a fan leader for the team. Anzalone has been a Jets fan since 1975 and has been leading a J-E-T-S chant from Section 134 at Jets home games since 1986. However, the drama, negativity, and losing surrounding the team became too much for him...

Rex Ryan in shock over Jets’ turnovers

After last night’s horrible loss to the Patriots, New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan still can’t believe how bad his team played. “Obviously watching the tape, it’s still hard to fathom the one stretch,” Ryan said today, in comments distributed by the Jets’ PR staff, per Pro Football Talk. “I’ve never seen anything like it. Coaching football or even following football...
