Matt Hasselbeck will get the start for the Tennessee Titans in the preseason opener Saturday night against his former team, the Seattle Seahawks.
Hasselbeck, battling Jake Locker for the starting quarterback spot, gets to open the preseason in part as the incumbent starter from a year ago, says coach Mike Munchak. Hasselback was the Seahawks' primary starting quarterback from 2001-10.
''It wasn't a big decision. I think Matt (Hasselbeck) deserves the start,'' Munchak said. ''If it means anything, it's his hometown and where he's played. He was a starter last year, so I think he should be the first one out of the box with the ball in his hand.''
Munchak said he would like to get Hasselbeck about 12 to 15 plays, and then insert Locker, last year's first-round pick, to finish the first half. The game is also a homecoming for Locker, who played at the University of Washington.
Munchak did not commit to reversing the roles and starting Locker next week when the Titans (No. 21 in the AP Pro32) travel to Tampa Bay for their second preseason game.

Troubled Titans receiver Kenny Britt is upset with the team for fining him. Don't believe us? Check out the photo he shared on Instagram.
Kenny Britt was third in the league in receiving yards per game last season, but he’s leading the league in idiotic behavior.

Titans receiver Kenny Britt has had eight run-ins with the law since being drafted three years ago. He just met with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday to discuss a DUI he recently got somehow at a military installation, and the Titans’ patience with him appears to be wearing thin. Britt has had arthroscopic surgery on both knees in the past year, and the team drafted Kendall...

According to John Glennon of The Tennessean, so far “overall in training camp, Hasselbeck has thrown eight interceptions in team drills, Locker two.”
I’m not sure how much this will determined who Titans head coach Mike Munchak chooses to open the season as the starter, but it should have some significant weight in the decision process.
Chris Johnson is fast. In fact, he may be the fastest player in the NFL when healthy. Johnson ran a blazing 4.24 40-yard dash at the NFL combine back in 2008. Nobody knows how Usain Bolt would do in the 40, but we do know he is recognized as the fastest man in the world. That hasn’t stopped Johnson from believing he can beat Bolt in a race.

Titans RB Chris Johnson believes that in the right set up, Jamacia’s Usain Bolt, the man currently crowned as the “fastest man alive,” wouldn’t stand a chance against him in a race. “I feel like if I would have kept training for track I’d have a chance, but I play football and he runs track, [...]
