Hawthorne looking forward to trip home
The Corsicana High School graduate remembers trips to Texas Stadium and playing in front of crowds upward of 20,000 people.
With Hawthorne now playing for the Seattle Seahawks, his friends and family back home don't get the chance to see him play very often.
"Because we play so far away from Texas, our games don't get broadcast unless you get some special cable package that a lot of our friends and family don't got," Hawthorne said.
[...] Pete Carroll has completely overhauled the roster, leaving Hawthorne as one of just 13 members who were with the Seahawks organization at the time — and only 10 who are currently on the 53-man active roster.
Hawthorne sprained his knee during training camp and missed two preseason games and the season opener against San Francisco.

We had a surprise addition to the Seattle Seahawks injury report this afternoon, with receiver Sidney Rice missing practice with a foot injury. Rice fully participated in practice on Wednesday, so I’m not sure if this is a maintenance issue, or if Rice is in danger of missing Sunday’s game at Dallas. Seattle head coach Pete Carroll does not talk to reporters on Thursday. Also...
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll is proud of Tyron Smith.
Recruited by Carroll to play for Southern Cal, Smith started 12 games at right tackle for the Trojans in 2009, which was Carroll’s last year at the school.
The Cowboys selected Smith ninth overall in April. Although he’s coming off a shaky outing in Philadelphia, Smith hasn’t disappointed even though he’s committed three...
Seahawks quarterback Tarvaris Jackson wouldn’t give himself a passing grade if he were to assess how he’s played so far this season. “We’re a 2-5 team, and a quarterback’s [job] is to help the team win as much as possible,” Jackson told the Seattle Times. “We’ve still got a lot of work to do, but…
I posed the question on an earlier post this morning, but I thought we should make it official by having you weigh in with your vote here. So do you believe that Tarvaris Jackson can be Seattle’s quarterback of the future? Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post's poll.

Quarterback Tarvaris Jackson says he measures his success by wins, and the Seahawks are struggling at 2-5.
Three keys to Seahawks victory 1. Contain DeMarco Murray. The Seahawks are allowing a league-low 3. 2 yards per carry this season, but Murray...
Our man on the Seattle Seahawks beat Brandon Choate weighs in on this week's battle versus the Dallas Cowboys. If the Seahawks can keep constant pressure on Tomy Romo while containing Dez Bryant and Laurent Robinson, they should be in line for a much needed victory.

Like the previous two matchups against the Browns and Bengals, this game is winnable if the Seahawks can manage to get their act together on offense and special teams. Points need to be scored in the first half, the o-line needs to give Jackson time to work, opposing punt returners need to be kept out of the endzone, and Whitehurst needs to stay on the bench.
IRVING, Tex. - Quick — name three Seattle Seahawks. Any three. Can’t do it, can you?
