Heap was shocked by release from Ravens

Todd Heap always expected to retire with the Ravens. That is, until he received a phone call from general manager Ozzie Newsome on July 25. The Ravens informed the tight end that they were cutting him to save $4.6 in salary-cap room. "I was not expecting what was coming out his mouth," Heap told reporters in Arizona via the Arizona Republic. "But, hey, I've been around this league for a long time. I've seen a lot of different things happen and that definitely wasn't one of the most crazy things I've seen."
