The NFL isn’t all tough guy brawn. Here are some heartwarming stories to take with you this week:
Charlie Batch: The rivalry matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens is always a dirty rough and tumble kind of game. Yet, in yesterday’s 23-20 Pittsburgh win a few tears were shed. Charlie Batch, a 37 year old back up quarterback who has played second fiddle on the sidelines of the NFL for 15 years, started in the game in place of injured QB Ben Roethlisberger. The game wasn’t pretty, but Batch hung in there and earned a come from behind win in rival territory. Afterwards he sobbed on Roethlisberger’s shoulder. This may be our last batch of Batch, but thankfully he achieved his spotlight NFL moment.
Rookie QBs: The Indianapolis Colts’ #1 pick in the draft, Andrew Luck, was expected to be an NFL sensation, but not his first year out of the gate (especially in the shadow of Peyton Manning’s ugly departure from the team). However, Luck has proved the experts w...

To the discerning eye, there is no difference between tears of pain and tears of joy. The tears shed on Sunday, December 2nd, 2012, as afternoon became night in the city of Baltimore, were undoubtedly tears of Joy. The Pittsburgh Steelers, led by 3rd string quarterback, Charlie Batch, had just beaten the rival Baltimore Ravens.
This was by no means an ordinary victory. The Ravens...
If you saw the moment immediately after Shaun Suisham’s field goal attempt sailed through the uprights to give Pittsburgh a huge win over Baltimore then you know what I’m talking about. Franchise quarterback Ben Roethlisberger shared an embrace with his back-up Charlie Batch for what seemed like hours. Amongst the heap of towels and stocking caps and winter coats, the two men...
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch hit a microphone held by a sound guy in the back of the end zone while overthrowing receiver Mike Wallace during Sunday's NFL game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Batch either made a terrible throw or displayed incredible accuracy, depending on your point of view on this play.

Charlie Batch won his biggest game in more than a decade on Sunday and just like that, the Steelers are back in the divisional title picture.
Look, by no means do I know everything there is to know about football, but even I know one of the cardinal rules of the sport is “if your team just lost a game to Charlie Batch, you should probably just shut the f*ck up until further notice.” Apparently Ed Reed is unaware of this bedrock principle of the game he’s spent a lifetime playing.

BALTIMORE -- Charlie Batch turns 38 on Wednesday, but the Pittsburgh Steelers' third-string quarterback looked ageless Sunday. Batch turned in a top-notch performance to help Pittsburgh defeat the Baltimore Ravens 23-20 at M&T Bank Stadium. A week after throwing three interceptions in a loss to the Cleveland Browns, Batch completed 25 of 36 passes for 276 yards, one touchdown...
Who knew that Charlie Batch would wind up a savior in New England on Sunday.
The Steelers’ third-string quarterback helped lead his team past the Ravens — despite some accuracy issues — which helped the Patriots vault into the No. 2 seed in the AFC. At 9-3, the Patriots, Ravens and Broncos are all tied in the AFC standings, but the tiebreakers currently work in New England’s...
In Mike Tomlin’s weekly Tuesday press conference he confirmed that Charlie Batch is the starter and they are preparing for the Chargers with that mentality. Ben Roethlisberger threw what Tomlin described as ”successfully” on Monday and they will continue to evaluate his progress during practice this week and see what happens. While he didn’t officially give a status for...
A Rabbit Punch has two meanings, both of which describe the nature of the article. 1. A series of fast punches. 2. An illegal punch to the back of the head between the skull and the first vertebrate that can cause permanent damage to the nerves or death.
The New York Jets defeat the Arizona Cardinals 7-6, in a game in which the most intriguing headline documented who came out of...
Ben Roethlisberger couldn't have done it any better.
Third-string quarterback Charlie Batch directed a 61-yard drive in the closing minutes, and Shaun Suisham kicked a 42-yard field goal as time expired to give the Pittsburgh Steelers a 23-20 victory over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
Playing without the injured Roethlisberger for a third straight week, the Steelers turned...
Come to the NFL’s version of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory and see what the Candy Man might be conjuring.
Few of us called that Charlie Batch would beat the Ravens on Sunday… in one of the toughest stadiums around to get a road win. But he did. And the Steelers just may have moved the division to the cusp of the tipping point in the process. A lot has to go right — or wrong...
While the spotlight is currently shining with good reason on Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch following the improbable 23-20 win Sunday over the Baltimore Ravens, one player that isn't getting enough credit for his performance is rookie Kelvin Beachum, who made his first NFL start at right tackle in Baltimore with Mike Adams sidelined by an ankle injury.
Round 2 of the best rivalry in the entire NFL kicks off today at 4:25pm as our Steelers and the hated Baltimore Ravens take to the field of battle at M&T Bank Stadium. We’ve been saying since the Steelers were sitting at 2-3 that every game was a must win game. The margin for error was small then, it’s even smaller now but that window is still open even if our team should...
On their final drive of the half, the Steelers got within seven points of the Ravens, but it could have been worse.
On an offsides penalty by Haloti Ngata, quarterback Charlie Batch threw the ball to Mike Wallace. However, Wallace dropped the ball.
Later that drive, Wallace was wide open, but Batch overthrew his receiver.
Pittsburgh settled for a field goal and the Ravens have a...
With Big Ben’s injury, the game on the road, and Baltimore performing well lately, there is not too much confidence in prediction markets that the Steelers can produce an upset.
The SportsTradex.com prediction market is currently indicating that the Steelers have a 27% chance of winning the game on Sunday. The market had the Steelers at a higher chance of winning earlier this week...
