Facing
two years in the joint, Plaxico Burress(notes) no longer has any use for a coach who
will make him run wind sprints or put him through Oklahoma drills. No, Plaxico's
new coach is more likely to teach him how to sharpen a toothbrush into a shank
than he is to teach him how to run a sharp dig route.
Plaxico
has hired a prison coach, or prison consultant, or an "inmate
adaptation specialist" ... I don't know, whatever you want to call it. Back
in July, Kevin Johnson at USA Today ran a
small piece on the services that these specialists offer.
[Larry] Levine, who served 10 years for drug trafficking, securities
violations and distribution of machine guns, says his "Fedtime101"
course covers it all. He says he helps offenders avoid assault, cope with the
"daily grind," decode prison lingo and even avoid "bad prison
jobs."
