Hines Ward hasn’t let the grass grow under his feet in retirement, that’s for sure. In addition to his analyst gig for NBC’s Football Night in America, the former Steelers receiver has been showing off his cooking prowess on the Food Network’s Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off, and has dabbled in acting a bit, taking a role in the blockbuster The Dark Knight Rises. Granted, Ward does play himself in the film, albeit as the Gotham Rogues’ kick returner, which is definitely a stretch from Hines’ playing days while wearing the black and gold. Now word on the street is that Ward has lined himself up yet another acting job, this time on AMC’s wildly popular The Walking Dead, playing a zombie extra, thanks to a former Georgia teammate who stars on the show, IronE Singleton. Said Ward (via The Pittsburgh-Post Gazette)… “It was an amazing experience,” said Mr. Ward, who will be a zombie extra when AMC’s hit series “The Walking Dead” returns to haunt Sunday nights Feb. 10. “Just being in makeup preparing me for my role was cool. I actually scared myself when I looked in the mirror for the first time after.” “A former Georgia teammate of mine is one of the stars of the show, and my agent thought it would be something fun and different for me to do,” Mr. Ward said. “The show is so popular, and I thought it would be cool, so I agreed,” Mr. Ward said. “And I had a blast doing it.” Great idea for a crossover! Zombie Hines Ward shows up on Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off and kills everyone on the show, because between Rachael Ray, Guy Fieri, and those D-list celebrities, a zombie massacre is our only hope.
