Over the next week and a half I'll be charting out the progressions of some of the Super Bowl Records. Why? Because we all want to learn. First Up, the Passing Yards Record. Ooh finally a bad statistic. Look who set the initial record, Bart Starr of course. Like completions Len Dawson equaled his total for the initial record. The next Super Bowl Daryle Lamonica equaled the int total at 1. In Super Bowl III against the Jets, Earl Morrall slapped the record in the face and tripled it. This record stood for nine years but along the way was tied by Craig Morton (Super Bowl V), Billy Kilmer (Super Bowl VII), Fran Tarkenton (Super Bowl XIX) and Roger Staubach (Super Bowl X). In Super Bowl XII, however Morton decided three wasn't enough in the matchup with his ex-squad and so he upped it to 4, ouch. This record stood for 25 years and was tied along the way by Jim Kelly (Super Bowl XXVI), Drew Bledsoe (Super Bowl XXXI), and Kerry Collins (Super Bowl XXXV). Finally the current record...
