Mike Holmgren opened his press conference today saying that he is going to make a change to his philosophy this year. He vows to make himself more available to media and fans. He gave credit to Browns fans that he meets around town and certain unnamed members of the media for breaking through to him and convincing him he needs to talk more. Holmgren did seem particularly concerned with some consequences of being more vocal and available. He says that he believes in Pat Shurmur and Tom Heckert, but is concerned that if he talks a bit more that fans and media might jump on some of the smaller inconsistencies if any seemingly conflicting quotes reveal themselves. We’ll see how this manifests itself, I guess. Ideally it will put an end (or at least slow down) the conspiracies and steamrolling negativity over things like Peyton Hillis a year ago.
