Even though they have the first overall pick in the 2014 draft that has a wide pool of quarterback talent, it hasn’t stopped rumors that the Houston Texans will use their first overall selection on a player who’s not a quarterback, likely Jadeveon Clowney. A new report by Tania Ganguli of ESPN.com shows that new Texans head coach Bill O’Brien called Matt Schaub, T.J. Yates and Case Keenum “good guys,” and did not deny the possibility of moving on from Case Keenum or Matt Schaub. O’Brien could very well find something in any one of these three quarterbacks and try to use them as a starter. Considering that Clowney is the best prospect in the draft, he may be too tempted to pass up these opportunities. Even though the Texans won just two games in 2013, all three quarterbacks on the Texans roster have showed plenty of potential of being franchise quarterbacks, if they could find a way to reduce the turnovers. However, given the uncertainty that Schaub or Yates are capable of bouncing back, and that Keenum may not be a quarterback of starting-caliber, the Texans may be forced to draft a quarterback, with talented options like Johnny Manziel, Blake Bortles or Teddy Bridgewater. The Texans are facing two risky scenarios: Either take Clowney, the surest bet in the draft to flourish in the NFL and gamble on the hopes that one of their quarterbacks can lead this team next year and improve, or pass on Clowney and draft a quarterback that could fall short of expectations. It’s a major question as to what the Texans will do in the NFL draft with the top pick. Will they trade it or use it? If they use it, who will they select? For Texans fans, the long wait is nearly over.   You may also be interested in:Weekly Rewind: Johnson heads Texans Mount Rushmore, free agents available, moreHouston Texans quarterback situation remains uncertainAre any Houston Texans involved in the 10 biggest NFL Combine storylines ever?
