Several reports surfaced today that Matt Leinart had reached a deal with the Seattle Seahawks, but instead he chose to remain the Houston Texans backup quarterback.

In more important news, they resigned No. 2 wide receiver Jacoby Jones.

Leinart had apparently reached an agreement with the Seahawks late Tuesday night, but the former USC quarterback was annoyed to find out that the Seahawks had signed Tarvaris Jackson today, the former Vikings QB.

He apparently told Gary Kubiak he wanted to sign a deal with a team that will allow him to start, so him returning to the Texans must mean no one else was interested since Matt Schaub won’t be supplanted by Leinart any time soon.

The Jones deal is three years, $10.5 million with $3.5 million guaranteed. The return to the Texans is not surprising, but the fact that they were able to get him at such a cheap price is. Jones was considered one of the more underrated free agent wide receivers on the market.

This could be a sign of a guy taking playing for a good team over the money.
