For weeks, I have listened to the national pundits talk about the Falcons, the Niners, the Bears and even the Broncos as the potential “best team in the league.” However, the one team that continued to fly under the radar was the Houston Texans. At 7-1, it was hard to imagine how a team with the third best defense in all of football and J.J. Watt being in the discussions for defensive player of the year could not be talked about among the league’s best, yet here we were. Headed into a match up with a team that had an identical 7-1 record on the national stage for Sunday Night Football, yet all you heard about was how the Bears could solidify their hold on the NFC with a win. Even during the pregame intros, we were treated to comparisons between this Bears defense and the dominant one they had in 1985, en route to “The Super Bowl Shuffle.” Then, with a seemingly discounted mention, we learned that the Texans were there, too. Perhaps it was because of the way they were picked apart o...

Texans defense takes center stage in sloppy wet win

It wasn't pretty. Bad weather and a hostile Chicago crowd is usually a bad sign, but the Houston Texans put together a gritty defensive perfromance to get the win vs. the Chicago Bears 13-6. Early in the game, we saw yet another QB leave the game with a concussion. Bears QB Jay Cutler joined the 49ers' Alex Smith and the Eagles' Michael Vick to leave the game after...

Week 10 Preview: Houston Texans going to Chicago to battle Bears on Sunday Night Football

In what could end up being a Super Bowl preview, the Houston Texans will travel to Chicago and face the Bears on Sunday night at Soldier Field. The Rundown: Texans vs. Bears

Talk about a heavyweight bout, the Houston Texans went into Soldier Field and came out with a huge 13-6 win against the Chicago Bears. In a rainy setting on a sloppy field, the Texans were able to put together enough offense, play stout defense and put together enough special teams coverage to come out with a huge win.   The Rundown   - Don’t look now but Kareem Jackson is turning...

Kollar stays in Chicago with medical issue

HOUSTON (AP) -- Houston Texans defensive line coach Bill Kollar did not travel home from Chicago with the team because of a possible blood clot. He wasn't allowed to return to the field. ...

Texans tied for NFL's best mark

(Eds: APNewsNow. Will be updated.) By KRISTIE RIEKEN AP Sports Writer It wasn't pretty, but the Houston Texans found a way to beat the Bears and escape Chicago tied for the best record in the NFL. Now the Texans (8-1) are preparing for one of the NFL's worst teams in Jacksonville, focused on improving as they inch closer to their goal of reaching the Super Bowl. Coach Gary...

Up next: Bears also lose QB to concussion

There weren't many style points in this one. J.J. Watt wasn't interested in them, anyway. All that mattered was the result, and the Houston Texans will take that along with everything else they took from this game.

Texans lead Bears 3-0 after first quarter

Houston forced three turnovers in the first quarter and Shayne Graham kicked a 20-yard field goal to give the Texans a 3-0 lead over the Chicago Bears through one period at a rainy Soldier Field on Sunday night. After the Texans went three and out on the opening possession, they got the ball back after former Bears defensive back Danieal Manning jarred the ball loose from tight...

NFL Week 10: Texans/Bears Earns Solid Overnight For NBC

The Texans’ second Sunday night appearance of the season earned good enough numbers for NBC. The Week 9 edition of “Sunday Night Football,” pitting the 7-1 Texans against the 7-1 Bears, earned a 13.7 overnight rating on NBC — down 6% from Patriots/Jets last year (14.5), and down 4% from Patriots/Steelers in 2010 (14.2). The 13.7 overnight is the lowest for “SNF” in Week...

Tillman active for Bears, Daniels out for Texans

Bears star cornerback Charles Tillman is active for Sunday's game against Houston, while Texans tight end Owen Daniels is out because of a back injury. There was some question about Tillman's status after he told a Chicago radio station he might not be available because his wife, Jackie, is due to give birth to a girl - the couple's fourth child. He later posted on Twitter...
