Houston leads the AFC, and will control their own destiny in the race for home-field advantage. Up until last week the Texans appeared to be dominant in the conference. In a real David and Goliath match up, Jacksonville nearly followed through with the upset as they took the Texans to overtime. The 1-8 Jaguars did not appear to be the team that would knock Houston off. It is because of this perception that the game was so close. The division games always have potential to go down to the wire, and this one was no exception. Houston was coming off of a big win over Chicago, and very nearly overlooked the threat that was the Jaguars. That should be the extent of concern (if any) for the Texans. It was a trap game. One which could have easily knocked the Texans down a notch had they not shown tremendous poise and mental toughness in the clutch.Instead, this game will fuel the Texans as they push through the home-stretch.This week will show a side of the Texans America is more familiar with. The side that pressures the quarter back on defense, and plays smash mouth offensive football.Arian Foster posted season lows against the Jaguars. Look for him to bounce back against the 16th-ranked Detroit rush defense. The Lions are allowing 4.3 yards per carry. Expect Foster and co. to take full advantage of the run game in the Motor City.  As for the passing game, Schaub is coming off of a career day. He will have no problem keeping the momentum rolling against Detroit. Aaron Rodgers completed 19 of 27 and tossed two touchdowns en route to Packer victory over the Lions a week ago.The Texans’ defense was burned early and often against Jacksonville last week. They allowed six plays of 20 or more yards. Justin Blackmon pulled in 7 receptions for 236 yards and a touchdown. This week they will find themselves lined up across from a guy by the name of Calvin Johnson. The Texans must prevent the big play against the Lions if they hope to grab a win on the road. They will be doing so without their best corner in Jonathan Joseph, who is out due to injury. Titus Young will be sitting this one out for the Lions. These guys could have a huge impact on the game.Regardless of the outcome this week, don’t forget what it’s all about.Take a break in between rounds of turkey and gravy to enjoy the tradition that is Thanksgiving football.
