Heading into their week two matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Houston Texans are battling several minor injuries to numerous key contributors. Through Thursday’s practice, most of the Texans’ injuries aren’t serious and don’t threaten the player’s abilities to suit up Sunday against the Jags.

However, there are a few players of concern, namely starting DE Antonio Smith, who has not practiced yet this week due to an injured ankle. While there is of course some fear Smith might miss Sunday’s game, none of it is coming from the Texans front office, especially from head coach Gary Kubiak, who expects the defensive captain to play against the Jags.

Losing Smith for a game would be huge for the Texans, but if he was going to miss a game or take a week off to fully heal, it would be this week against an anemic Jaguars’ offense that at times is downright dreadful to watch. Should Smith be unable to play Sunday, expect to see a strong dose of Tim Jamison in his place. Rookie Jared Crick could also see increased playing time.

Other than Smith, several Texans have been limited at practice the past two days, including RB Arian Foster (illness), ILB Brian Cushing (ribs), OLB Brooks Reed (hip), and OLB Bryan Braman (hamstring). None of these players have been ruled out for Sunday’s game, but are cautiously being taken care of to ensure they play.

There have been a number of other Texans will small nagging injuries but have practiced full blow this week and don’t appear to be any threat to miss the Jags game. These include G Wade Smith (wrist), G Antoine Caldwell (ankle), DT Shaun Cody (back), DE J.J. Watt (elbow), LB Tim Dobbins (neck), and CB Johnathan Joseph (illness).

On the other side, the Jaguars are in a similar situation with several players limited or out of practice completely. These include RB Rashad Jennings (Knee), T Cam Bradfield (Ankle), G Eben Britton (Ankle), G Uche Nwaneri (Ankle), DE Austen Lane (Foot), DE George Selvie (Knee), LB Daryl Smith (Groin) CB Derek Cox (Hamstring), and CB Mike Harris (Hamstring). As of now, it does not appear that any of these players will miss Sunday’s game.

Houston Texans DE Antonio Smith fined, Miami Dolphins G Richie Incognito not
