Former South Florida Quarterback B.J Daniels displayed his talents on the field both running with the football, and throwing the football in Tampa. San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh took a chance on the dual-threat quarterback, despite Colin Kaepernick, Colt McCoy, and Scott Tolzien on the roster. From a throwing standpoint, B.J Daniels looks to be the third or fourth quarterback on the roster, which would not bode well for his chances at seeing the field. However, Daniels has shown that he can make as many plays with his legs, as well as his arm, and is a master of the read option.Colin Kaepernick will maintain the starting job in San Francisco, after leading the team to a super bowl appearance (with help from Alex Smith). Newly acquired free agent Colt McCoy was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the 3rd round of the 2012 NFL draft in hopes of being the franchise quarterback of the future. Once that didn't quite pan out in Cleveland, San Francisco nabbed him for a backup spot. So far, third stringer Scott Tolzien has not shown that he is a threat to McCoy, but with Daniel's athleticism, things could change quickly. A more realistic scenario is Daniels taking over for Tolzien as the number three quarterback. But how will he see the field as the third quarterback on the roster. The answer is simple; with Colin Kaepernick's style of play, the Nevada product could go down at any minute. Jim Harbaugh has always found a way to get talent on the field, and could incorporate Daniels on special teams, or in a wildcat position. Daniels is simply a talented athlete, and should prove so starting in rookie minicamp.
