Jay Cutler will improve the Chicago Bears. Anyone suggesting otherwise is either putting too much weight into a quarterback's career W-L record or an eternal pessimist. What remains to be seen is whether Cutler can turn the Bears from a fringe playoff team into a Superbowl contender. Last year, Kyle Orton gave the Bears a great performance, surpassing all expectations and improving greatly to post a 58.5% completion percentage, and 6.4 yards per pass attempt. This was an arguably better campaign than anything put together by previous quarterbacks like Rex Grossman, Jim Miller or Shane Matthews. Nevertheless, it wasn't hard to see the defects in Orton's game that showed little signs of improving.
