Through two weeks of NFL action, it has become clear from watching the Arizona Cardinals that defense is how this team has won games, and will continue to win games. Through two games, including one vs. a very potent New England Patriots, the Cardinals defense is ranked 5th in the league in scoring, giving up an average of just 17 points per game. The Cardinals were able to game plan perfectly against the Patriots as they knew not to blitz and were able to limit Tom Brady to only one passing touchdown and intercepted a pass on the first Patriots possession.
The strength of this Cardinals defense is evenly distributed throughout the different levels, making it very hard for opposing teams to target a weakness. The defensive line is anchored by 3-time Pro Bowler Darnell Dockett, and five-year pro Calais Campbell.
