We learned earlier this morning, that Patriots LB Jerod Mayo has just signed a five-year contract extension that will keep him in New England through 2017. But terms were not available at the time.
We have some now. How much will Mayo earn?
I’m told Mayo will earn $50 million over five years, with $27 million guaranteed. He has $4.5 million guaranteed in 2015, which no other NFL player has.it puts him right in the mix with the game’s best, a nice job by Impact Sports, Mayo’s agents.
Sounds like a win-win.
By comparison…Among the NFL’s top linebackers, 49er Patrick Willis signed a five-year, $50-million extension in 2010, w hile Panther Jon Beason inked a five-year $50 million extension ($25 million guaranteed) this past July. Meanwhile, in August, Jets linebacker David Harris signed a four-year, $36 million contract with $29.5 million guaranteed.
