All eyes have been on tight end Dennis Pitta to be one of Joe Flacco’s go-to receivers this season. But after suffering from a dislocated hip during training camp, someone else on the Baltimore Ravens roster will have to step up to replace Pitta after the season-ending injury.
That shouldn’t be too hard with Ed Dickson in the lineup, right?
Nothing comes that easy in football.
Ed Dickson left training camp on Sunday after suffering a slight hamstring tear. The team has decided to bench Dickson for a couple weeks to recover.
Prior to the injury, Dickson was focusing on connecting more with Flacco, since he would be taking on Pitta’s role. Pitta and Flacco are known for being great friends, a quality that shows on the field. Pitta has been Flacco’s safe choice when it comes to receivers and Dickson wanted to establish the same kind of chemistry with his the quarterback.

The offseason loss of Anquan Boldin and recent injury to Dennis Pitta haven’t got Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco worried.
Pitta was an incredibly reliable target for Flacco in 2012.
The tight end caught 61 passes for 669 yards. Pitta also tacked on seven touchdowns.
Pitta was the third leading receiver in Baltimore last season.
Boldin on the other hand was number...
Baltimore Ravens rookie fullback Kyle Juszczyk got hisr ookie initiation at Chick-fil-A. It was there that the 22-year-old out of Harvard was left to purchase nearly $100 worth of chicken nuggets and waffle fries.

The Baltimore Ravens were at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Florida on Thursday Night taking on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the NFL kicked off its first pre-season games. On Saturday, Baltimore Ravens longtime offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden deservedly was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Ravens are obviously desperate for help out wide after they gave away Boldin for a $5 foot long and lost Pitta for the season. Ray Rice is versatile enough to line up out wide and according to Chris Mortensen, that’s exactly what the Ravens will do. This will allow them to use Bernard Pierce more in the running game.
I do think Rice will be a great asset in PPR leagues...
I need a price check T…Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco doesn’t have an entourage or any crazy handlers that run all his errands. Joe is just like you and I. In just his third season Torrey Smith has found himself as Baltimore's receiving group's leader.
It wasn't something expected necessarily. He was particularly shocked when the Ravens traded Anquan Boldin to San Francisco this offseason. But it's a position he's embraced since it came to him.
And it's something he's not taking for granted either.
You might expect a little letdown on the pace of practice now that the first preseason game is only a day away in Tampa. But the Ravens coaches have their pedals to the metal. I can almost hear what Ozzie Newsome (GM) is thinking--- "Weed out the rookies and free agents now, not later...we've got some veteran talent that we'll need to make room for when free agents get...
Ravens tight end Visanthe Shiancoe has been practicing with the first team just a week after signing with the team.Fantasy Spin:Ed Dickson will start and be the tight end to have on your roster, but the Ravens have used multiple tight ends over the past seasons and Shiancoe could get a decent portion of the workload.
For the Ravens, it will be interesting to watch the wide receivers, especially young guys Tommy Streeter, Tandon Doss, LaQuan Williams and Deonte Thompson. With the trade of Anquan Boldin, there is an open race for playing time at the receiver position, and at least one of these young guys will have a chance to [...]
