St. Paul head coach Elijah Asante and Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll are friends. Their friendship dates back to Carroll's days as the head coach at USC. When Carroll took over in Seattle, he extended an invitation to his friend, Asante, to visit the Pacific Northwest. Asante took him up on the offer serving as an intern during the Seahawks' most recent minicamp. "That trip went really well," Asante said. "I had a great time up there. It was a grind. It was a daily grind." Asante saw firsthand the rigors of being a coach in the NFL. The days started at 6 a.m. and lasted until 9 p.m. Any time not spent on the field was usually spent in some type of meeting team, position, coaches etc. complete with tons of film study. "It's very much a mental game," said Asante describing his experience. "I'd say it was four to one mental to physical." Despite the long, often times tedious days, Asante received exactly wh...

What Marshawn Lynch needs to do for the Seahawks

If the Seattle Seahawks will be successful this season, a huge part of it will come from Marshawn Lynch. Yes, the NFL is a QB driven league. If you have an elite QB you are going to win games. But don’t forget how big the run game still is. The ability to pound the ball through the hole, and steam [...]

Seahawks RT James Carpenter could start year on the PUP

It's been a rough 12 months for James Carpenter. Rehab Rehab Rehab. Three words I'm sure he'd love to forget. The Seahawks on paper have a TON of depth. Breno Giacomini is starting...

Seahawks Irvin predicts he will have double digit sacks in 2012

On Tuesday Seahawks first round draft pick Bruce Irvin predicted he will have double digit sacks in 2012. I wonder if he still thinks those sacks will come with the Washington Redskins. When asked how many sacks he was going to get this year, Irvin responded with a surprisingly confident answer. “I don’t wanna say, I feel like it may jinx it, but its gonna be double digits,”...

Clayton: Matt Flynn Hasn’t Done Enough To Overtake Tavaris Jackson

After a couple good games in Green Bay as the backup quarterback, Matt Flynn parlayed his success into a three year 26 million dollar contract with the Seattle Seahawks this off-season. He presumably signed to be the Seahawks starting quarterback. However, according to ESPN’s John Clayton the starting job is not yet Flynn’s, ”[Flynn] hasn’t wowed anybody in all the offseason...

Seattle head coach Pete Carroll has said that Tarvaris Jackson, Matt Flynn and Russell Wilson will wage a legitimate competition for the No. 1 spot, but it was reported in recent days that the incumbent would go to camp next month atop the depth chart. The reaction that Jackson will get the No. 1 snaps, at least at the outset of camp, has generated mixed reactions both inside...
