GREEN BAY, Wis. Nearly one thousand miles away from Hurricane Sandy, the Packers were supposed to be one of the NFL teams unaffected by the storm's destructive path. But with Greg Jennings set to fly out to Philadelphia for his scheduled surgery, the star wide receiver has no choice but to wait on the procedure.
Jennings announced last week that he is opting for surgery to repair his rectus abdominis tear, an injury that began as a groin issue earlier this season. The plan was for Dr. William Meyers to perform the operation on Tuesday, but with Hurricane Sandy shutting down much of the east coast, Jennings won't be able to get to Philadelphia.
"Greg is obviously delayed from going out to Philadelphia because of the storm," coach Mike McCarthy said Monday. "Exactly when he will go? That has not been determined yet."
Jennings is hoping to return this season, but a delay in his surgery will push back his potential return to the field.
