With the bad news today that the Jets could be missing out on their primary backup lineman through the end of October, what are the Jets options? At this point they can either shelve him for the year by placing him on the IR, or keep him active, so that the team can use him later in the season. The PUP list is no longer an option for Turner, since he participated in team activities since the start of camp. Either option presents problems. We’ll address some of the strategies the team might employ to mitigate the loss of Turner, IR or no.
Wait it Out – This might be whistling past the graveyard for the Jets, but they’ve avoided serious injuries to their offensive line for over three years — the glaring exception being loss of Damien Woody’s end of last season. Could the Jets skirt by a man down for the first 6-8 weeks of the season? Turner would likely try and come back on the early side, so the Jets might be able to ease him back into ...
