Found November 23, 2011 on Dave Krieg's Strike Beard:
Later today I will get on a plane and fly west to see my family in the Tri-Cities and hopefully see my brother James and the Kamiakin Braves upset Bellevue in the Washington 3A State Semi-Finals Saturday... but I'm also going to the Seahawks game Sunday, which is suddenly way more than a battle between two losing teams going nowhere (at least to me). I spent a lot of time growing up trying to figure out how middling Seahawks teams might be able to make the playoffs. What are the relevant tie-breakers? Who should we be rooting for? Rooting against? I remember doing a lot of that crap with pen and paper back in the dark ages of the 80s and 90s- Thankfully now we have the ESPN NFL Playoff Machine to fuel the insanity of pasty dorks like myself. Long story short? The Seahawks have a very solid shot at the postseason IF they win the rest of their games and finish 10-6. Seattle CAN get in at 9-7, but would then need a lot more outside help- You should root for Dallas to win the NFC Ea...

Seahawks place OT Carpenter on IR

The Seattle Seahawks have placed rookie offensive tackle James Carpenter on injured reserve with a torn ACL. Carpenter, who was selected No. 25 in this year's draft, started nine games. He suffered the injury during practice last week. The Seahawks signed offensive tackle Allen Barbre to fill Carpenter's roster spot. Babre made three starts for the Seahawks last season.

Seahawks Report Card

The Seahawks won their second game in a row for the first time all season, and the only the second time under Pete Carroll. As great of a win as it was, the Seahawks were actually pretty lucky that they were playing the hapless Rams or it might not have gone their way. Clearly the Seahawks have a lot of work left to do.Tarvaris Jackson: CJackson clearly had a rough game, especially...

Kam Chancellor slapped with $40,000 fine

It’s been an expensive two weeks for Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor. Morning links: Hawks still thinking playoffs

The focus of my story today is, believe it or not, the Seattle Seahawks still think they have enough gas in the tank to make a run at the postseason. At 4-6, the Seahawks are three games behind NFC wild card co-leaders Detroit and Chicago (7-3). And one reason for Seattle’s confidence in completing the arduous task ahead is because the Seahawks already accomplished the unexpected...
