Ezekiel “Ziggy” Ansah took the stage with a pair of eye-catching lensless 3D glasses when he was selected by the Detroit Lions in the first round (No. 5 overall) in the 2013 NFL Draft on Thursday, April 25. While it may have started out just as a dare from the folks at BYU, it has now turned into a pretty sweet perk for Ansah, who picked up the glasses when he went to see the 2011 film “Thor” in theatres. Photo Credit: DetroitLions.com Brian Manzullo of the Detroit Free Press reports Ansah has been offered free admission to IMAX movies for a year. “We, at IMAX, couldn’t help but notice your keen sense of style at the NFL draft this year,” the company said in a letter. “You made quite a fashion statement with your pair of 3D glasses. As a member of the Detroit Lions, you share our love for the color blue and we would like to add an IMAX silver lining for you – we would love to celebrate your first year in the NFL with the opportunity to see all IMAX 3D movies on us for the next

The Detroit Lions announced Friday that they claimed two players off waivers, former Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Cory Greenwood and former Tampa Bay Buccaneers guard Derek Hardman.
Greenwood had 34 tackles and one forced fumble, mainly on special teams for the Chiefs, and played in all 48 games in the last three seasons. Hardman, in contrast, hasn't been too active in his...
Martin Mayhew and his staff are apparently sly like foxes. When they managed to lure Reggie Bush to Detroit, they must have already known about the durability issues that have hovered around the running back his entire career. But talent on his level tends to offset such concerns, at least in the short term. But the worries must never leave the back of one’s mind, and when...

The Detroit Lions, most would agree, selected for need during the 2013 NFL Draft and may have found multiple starters in the process. Where did that leave the team's roster in the aftermath, and what kind of positional battles will the new rookies face this summer while in training camp?

Anwar Richardson of MLive.com doesn’t expect to see Lions QB Matthew Stafford sign a contract extension with the Lions this offseason.
Richardson points to the fact that Stafford has two years remaining on his contract with a club option in 2015, so he’s in a position where another playoff appearance or possibly even a deep playoff run could have a big impact on his overall...

The NFL is an ever-changing, copycat league where imitation is always the most sincere form of flattery. Hopefully, the Detroit Lions are attempting to imitate the New England Patriots with some of their recent moves at tight end.
By drafting Michael Williams and signing undrafted free agent Joseph Fauria, the Lions look committed to making that a position of strength over the...
First down: The Detroit Lions have tried to get bigger -- and longer -- at defensive end.
The result could be more passes getting knocked down at the line of scrimmage this coming season.
J.J. Watt, the leagues most disruptive defensive lineman, knocked down 16 passes last year for the Houston Texans.
The Lions nine defensive linemen, meanwhile, combined for...
Lions first round pick Ziggy Ansah wore his now infamous 3D glasses to the NFL Draft as a dare. And now the goofy-framed, no-lenses goggles are paying off. People at BYU, including head football coach Bronco Mendenhall, dared Ansah to wear the glasses that he was given when he saw “Thor” at the theatre in 2011.
On Friday, Ansah received a letter from IMAX...
Barry Sanders dominated high school competition just like you might expect. This highlight reel of the former Detroit Lions superstar is just silly.

So first up with the full seven round grade is the Detroit Lions.
Round One: DE from...
