The Cincinnati Bengals put on a defensive clinic against the New England Patriots on Sunday. Whenever Tom Brady is on the football field he usually eats up the headlines. The Bengals masterfully executed defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer's game plan. For that reason, Zimmer is my Impact Performer of Week 5. First, let's talk about what they did and why it is so impressive. The Patriot offense was held to 248 total yards, limited to ball possession of less than 26 minutes, and no touchdowns. Brady's personal streak of 52 consecutive games with a touchdown pass was broken, which was the second-longest streak in NFL history, two games away from Drew Brees's record of 54. The game marked the first time in four years the Pats failed to reach the end zone. Most importantly the Bengals' performance handed the Pats their first 'L' of the season. Coach Zimmer's game plan called for smart, physical play. More than anything else it called for execution o...

Is Brady to blame for the offense's struggles?

The 4-1 record that the Patriots own does not really reflect the amount of headaches that this team's offense has caused for fans. Though the defense has made some serious improvement, it has been the offense that is lacking. After leading the NFL is various offensive statistics last year, the offense has been nothing more than mediocre. With Tom Brady at the helm, one would...

Tom Brady on TD streak ending: "I'm bummed we lost"

Hats off to the Bengals defense. They stopped quarterback Tom Brady from doing something he's done in 52 straight games. Throw a touchdown pass. Tom Brady Unhappy With Patriots’ Lack of Execution on Offense, Says They Need to Start Making Plays NFL Players Make

The Patriots’ offense hasn’t exactly been producing at the same levels as in years past, and Tom Brady will be the first one to explain why. “We’re not executing at the level we need to execute at,” Brady said during his weekly appearance on WEEI’s Dennis and Callahan Morning Show. “We scored six points. We really haven’t played well, up to our capabilities all season...

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees and New England Patriots QB Tom Brady both saw some long running streaks come to an end on Sunday. Both players were on the road. Offense hits Rock Bottom in 13-6 Loss to Bengals

(Photo by Jamie Sabau/Getty Images) The defense did it's part, but Tom Brady and the Patriots offense were unable to help them out as the Patriots lost their first game of the season, 13-6. Fantasy Football: Game of the Week Preview

These two teams are a combined 9-1 this season with six Super Bowl appearances in the last 12 years. It's actually surprising and depressing that we haven't had the privilege to watch these two powerhouses perform on the biggest stage in the final game. Last year, the Saints started the season 0-4 and had a defense that allowed 28.4 points per game in 2012 (31st in the league...
