Now, this was the defense the Seahawks were looking for. Don’t put any stock in the 24-13 final on Saturday, which dropped Seattle to 1-2 in the preseason. Do, however, focus on the level of intensity and sense of purpose on a defensive unit that came into the night feeling the brunt of skeptics who questioned whether they were able to display a brand of production that would allow the Seahawks to contend in a wide-open NFC West. The results were pleasing, especially with the pass rush and the play of rookie S Earl Thomas. Seattle recorded two sacks, but it was the amount of pressure applied on QB Brett Favre that left coach Pete Carroll satisfied. The heat placed on Favre was a far cry from the inconsistent production delivered by the front seven in the previous two exhibition outings.
