Many people thought the Minnesota Vikings were in for a tough 2011 season long before it kicked off in September against San Diego. But not quite so many saw the bottom completely falling out from underneath a team that was seconds away from going to the Super Bowl just two years ago.
The challenges get bigger in 2012, as well, with Adrian Peterson recuperating from an ACL tear and gaping holes on the offensive line and in the secondary. Dan Zinski, lead writer at TheVikingAge.com, took some time to share his insights on what went wrong in 2011 and where the team should go from here.
Zoneblitz: I think most people went into the season expecting the Vikings to have their issues in 2011, but I don’t know that many saw 3-13 coming. What made this whole thing fall apart?
Dan Zinski: At best this was a 6-10 team going into the season. What could’ve given them three more wins? Finishing off a couple of those games early when they had leads. Those losses were on the offense which nev...

McNabb balls up at a Minnesota rec league
I've still got it T
My tipster sends me this “This kid plays basketball at Lifetime every day and every day he sees McNabb there. He went up to him, referenced McNabb’s Syracuse hoops days, and asked him to play on his his team. They’ve had 1 game so far and McNabb put up 14-10. As a Vikings fan, I wish he would’ve decided to pursue his basketball career 6...
Report: Vikings changing defensive coordinators
The Minnesota Vikings have relieved Fred Pagac of his duties as defensive coordinator but have offered him a demotion to his former role of linebackers coach, the Pioneer Press reported Sunday, citing sources.
Pagac, who became defensive coordinator last January after serving as linebackers coach from 2006 to 2010, was yet to inform the team on whether he would accept the new offer...
Peterson confident he'll return to form
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. Adrian Peterson has seen the replays of his devastating knee injury.
On Christmas Eve, the Minnesota Vikings' 100 million man dropped to the turf at Washington's FedEx Field after Redskins safety DeJon Gomes hit Peterson's left knee while his leg was planted.
On Friday, talking to the media for the first time since a torn ACL and MCL required surgery...
Minnesota Vikings Possible 2012 NFL Free Agent Pickups: WR Reggie Wayne
The Minnesota Vikings can clearly use some help at wide receiver going into the 2012 season. Besides Percy Harvin, there are no real big-play threats at wide out. I have no doubt that the Vikings will take a receiver in the 2012 NFL Draft, but the free agent market is a great place to get instant help as well.
Reggie Wayne is one veteran receiver the Vikings should take a serious...
Vikings, Cowboys, Jags Facing Change
The Minnesota Vikings and the Jacksonville Jaguars have locked horns over an unlikely issue: both teams would like to have Mel Tucker as their defensive coordinator and Tucker’s current contractual situation is a little bit unclear. Tucker was the Jags defensive coordinator, but his contract expired and he is no longer legally tied to Jacksonville. The Vikings are apparently interested...

Well, the off-season is officially here, but don’t tell that to the staff at FantasyKnuckleheads.com. We are continuing to crank out content in an attempt to get you ahead of your competition as you plan for the 2012 season.
The first step in attempting to do that is to try to help...
Robison still using critics for motivation
Brian Robison had a solid first season as a starter, as the statistics show, but he didn’t reach one of his goals and still uses his doubters to motivate him.
Jim Souhan: Upgrades needed among Vikings assistant coaches
An NFL head coach is only as good as his coaching staff. Leslie Frazier would do well to follow Dennis Green's lead and hire some top-notch lieutenants to work for him.
Report: Vikings strip DC title from Pagac, offer different role
Now that the Minnesota Vikings have interviewed several candidates for Fred Pagac's job, the team has relieved him of his duties as defensive coordinator.
