The Indianapolis Colts training camp is currently held in Anderson, Indiana. Anderson has fallen victim to a devastating drought that has widely affected the Midwest. Saturday afternoon a storm that brought conditions harsh enough to call practice early was well-received by those who have desperately sought after rain for weeks, even months.
Midwestern winds had carried in a rare rainstorm. One might think of these as metaphorical winds of change, similar to the “winds of change” that have been, and will continue to blow, through the Colts organization.
The coaching staff, almost entirely revamped since the 2011 season, was very intense and vocal during Saturday’s practice. This alone will be a major change from the stoic personalities of previous head coaches Tony Dungy and Jim Caldwell.
Head coach Chuck Pagano stayed close to the action and looked very involved. While Pagano must establish a relationship with the team, particularly quarterback Andrew Luck, it is no secret that ...
BEST OF MAXIM
As I've been saying from Day One this offseason, I was pleasantly surprised with Joe Reitz' play at left guard. While the former basketball player wasn't an All-Pro by any means, he did a more than servicable job, and it was essentially his rookie year. He and Anthony Castonzo formed a very good team on that left side before injuries put a damper on the season for both...
In case you're unaware, the Colts released their first unofficial depth chart for the 2012 season, the one that will be in place for the first preseason game against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday, August 12th.
The depth chart IS unofficial, and is not yet completed on the team's website. The team did however, release pictures of the base depth charts on Instagram, and tweeted...
Austin Collie's NFL career was off to a great start with a solid rookie season and a solid stats in year two (59 receptions, 649 yards, 8 TDs in nine games) before head injuries and then historically bad QB burst his bubble. According to Collie he is going to be playing a different role with new QB Andrew Luck. He says he will be playing outside more and stretching the field...
The Indianapolis Colts had to stop practice early on Saturday as ominous skies forced the team indoors to complete their practice. Unfortunately, the lightning in the clouds was more threatening than the Colts' offensive unit during goal line drills.
Both Andrew Luck and Drew Stanton threw interceptions during the 11 on 11 drills in pads. Given head coach Chuck Pagano'...
Indianapolis' offensive line has a mission.
It must protect No. 1 draft pick Andrew Luck from oncoming pass rushers without self-destructing, and it won't be easy.
The Colts have changed their philosophy, bringing in lots of fresh faces and bigger bodies to help produce a stronger ground game. The hope is by bringing more balance to an offense that relied so heavily Peyton...
Andrew Luck keeps getting rave reviews from longtime NFL players and coaches.
He's not sure he deserves them.
The No. 1 overall draft pick says he's still trying to learn the Colts offense, get in sync with his new receivers and figure out how to read NFL defenses.
Unofficially, Luck completed 122 of 162 passes with seven touchdowns and five interceptions in team drills...
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck will make his NFL debut in eight days against the St. Louis Rams at Lucas Oil Stadium, but that realization threw off the No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft when reminded of it. "I didn't realize we had a game then, to be honest," Luck told the Indianapolis Star after Saturday's morning practice. "We'...
The Indianapolis Colts had a special visitor watching practice today at Anderson University: Andrew Luck’s father, Oliver, was on hand to get a glimpse at his son’s progress as an NFL quarterback. Of course, the Colts are quite used to having a quarterback’s father around watching, having spent 14 years with Archie and Peyton Manning.
Oliver himself was a quarterback in...
The Indianapolis Colts are hoping bigger players create a better defense.
New coach Chuck Pagano has changed the team's defensive philosophy after a dismal 2-14 season.
Gone are the zone coverages and Tampa 2 principles that have been a mainstay for the Colts for nearly a decade. Instead, Pagano has implemented a 3-4 hybrid defense that relies more on blitzes to pressure quarterbacks...
Finally, actual football is taking place.
After a couple months break for the players, training camp has begun. While preseason games don't begin for the Colts until September 12th, training camp finally gives us a chance to look at real football, instead of exaggerated story lines and off the field incidents.
So, with a week in the books, what have we learned so far?
If you've been following the beat writers on Twitter during the Colts' training camp, or keeping up with news other ways, you'll know that Dwayne Allen has been receiving a lot of attention.
Thankfully, that attention has been all positive.
Coaches and teammates have expressed great surprise in just how good of a receiver he is, and his blocking (which was expected...
