After getting DE Bjoern Werner #24 overall, who will the Colts add in day 2?    Day 2 of the 2013 NFL Draft starts today at 6:30, and the first few hours could be slightly boring for Indianapolis Colts fans. The Colts do not have a 2nd round pick, trading that away to the Dolphins last year for CB Vontae Davis. Davis provided steady – if not stellar – play at the corner position, but overall it was a deal that will likely work out well for both teams. Due to that, Indy won’t select again until the 86th overall pick, or #24 in round 3. There are still plenty of good players out there, and more than few are likely to slip through the cracks of round 2 and be hanging around when the Colts are on the clock again. So, who are the players most likely to be targeted? Well, as we saw in the first round, the Draft is highly unpredictable, and the later rounds even more so. But, I’ve compiled a “wish list” of players who I think will still be on the board later tonight. 1. RB Stepfan Taylor, Stanford – Andrew Luck, Coby Fleener, Griff Whalen, and now OC Pep Hamilton. Why not add one more former Cardinal to officially make Indy “Stanford East?” 2. WR Markus Wheaton, Oklahoma State – The Colts could still add some depth and competition to their receiving corps. Wheaton could possibly go late in the 2nd, though, as I am predicting a massive run on WRs then. 3. G Dallas Thomas, Tennessee - Not a position of great need, but Thomas could provide some better depth than the current Colt backups do. 4. C Barrett Jones, Alabama – I like starter Samson Satele, but he had plenty of health problems, and depth is also an issue here. 5. DT Brandon Williams, Missouri Southern State – He’s big (6’1″, 335 lbs) and again, the Colts could use a little depth, especially if NT Josh Chapman doesn’t pan out. 6. DE William Gholston, Michigan State - Yes, I realize they drafted a DE (Bjoern Werner) in the first. But Werner is slated to play OLB in the Colts’ 3-4 defense. Gholston has more bulk befitting a 3-4 defensive end. 7. CB Logan Ryan, Rutgers – Colts GM Ryan Grigson seemingly added 50 defensive backs to the roster last offseason because of the massive lack of talent. The talent pool is better, somewhat, but why not add another competitor? Now, those are the guys I would like to see the Colts consider if they stay put in the 3rd round. However, with some really talented players at positions of need still out there (at WR and CB, specifically) that will be gone by the time the second round ends, there is a possibility they try and move back into the round 2. Here is a list of guys I feel they might consider doing that for: 1. RB Montee Ball, Wisconsin – I think he’s the best back in the draft this year, and will make an immediate impact wherever he goes. If the Colts can get him, especially since Pep wants to run the ball more, the Colts offense could be deadly next year.  2. WR Keenan Allen, California - I had projected Allen to go in the first round to Carolina. He’s tall, at 6’2″, and could be the receiver the Colts need to be an eventual Reggie Wayne replacement. Indy would have to trade back in pretty early to get him though, and the price for that might be too much to swallow. 3. WR Justin Hunter, Tennessee - See above. Hunter is taller (6’4″) and lighter, but will likely be taken even before Allen is. 4. DT Jesse Williams, Alabama – Basically the same idea as I had with Williams in the 3rd. 5. CB Blidi Wreh-wilson, Connecticut – Probably one of the 2 best options left that might come at a price the Colts would be willing to pay. 6. CB Johnthan Banks, Mississippi State – I’ve been high on Banks ever since I’ve been researching prospects. I think he’d be an excellent addition to the secondary. We’ll find out later exactly who/what the Colts wind up doing in day 2, but needless to say, 2nd year GM Grigson has done very well in drafts so far. Let’s see if he can keep knocking it out of the park in the later rounds. Follow me on Twitter @IrishColt1
