The Indianapolis Colts got a Reed from Baltimore. Just not the one many of us thought they would early in the offseason.
Just two days after the team signed CFL WR Maurice Williams, Colts owner Jim Irsay announced this afternoon that they team had traded back-up RB Delone Carter to Baltimore for Ravens back-up WR David Reed (former Ravens S Ed Reed signed with Houston as a free-agent earlier this year).
In his three years in Baltimore, Reed has only managed to log in 5 catches for 66 yards, but also brings some kick return experience. Reed has returned 39 kicks for 1,150 yards (29.5 average), including a 103 yarder for a touchdown in 2010.
We all knew that Carter was the odd man out in the Colts RB stable. He fell out of favor in the previous regime after having fumbling issues, something he never really got corrected, and didn’t make a big enough impression on the current staff to warrant more playing time.
