It’s something that most of us never imagined saying just two months ago, but if the NFL playoffs started today, the Andrew Luck led Indianapolis Colts would be in it. With their fifth win in six games, and their fourth straight overall, the Colts all of a sudden find themselves in familiar territory  in the playoff hunt. In fact, if the Houston Texans drop their Sunday Night showdown with the Chicago Bears, they will be only one game out of first place in the AFC South. Just like we predicted it, right? The credit or blame usually falls on a quarterback, regardless of the situation, and I presume that’ll be what happens here. Easy to make that assumption with a kid as talented as Andrew Luck at the helm. He seems to have gotten the rookie jitters out of his system and is well on his way to meeting his NFL Draft hype as the next great quarterback. While looking at the stat sheet, there is nothing there on Luck that is going to blow you away. But for those of us who believe in “the...

Indianapolis Colts mid-season review

Not much was expected from the Indianapolis Colts in 2012. They released future Hall of Fame (and leading MVP candidate) Peyton Manning following a spate of neck injuries and surgeries. Along with him were released several key veterans and fan favorites: MLB Gary Brackett, TE Dallas Clark, RB Joseph Addai, and WR Anthony Gonzalez, among others. The coaching staff and front office...

Colts strong start makes playoffs real possibility

The strong start by the Indianapolis Colts has everyone talking about the possibility of making the playoffs. Interim coach Bruce Arians is more concerned with protecting No. 1 overall draft pick Andrew Luck. One day after beating Jacksonville 27-10 to improve to 6-3, Arians talked about everything from two personal foul calls on the Jaguars for hitting Luck in the head or near...

Vote: Which Rookie Quarterback has Been Most Impressive in 2012?

As the Patriots squeaked out a 37-31 victory over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, fans took a collective sigh of relief as New England extended their lead in the AFC East. Sitting at 6-3, the Pats now turn their attention to Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts next Sunday. What looked like a sure victory before the season, now becomes a bit more intriguing, considering that Indy...

Indianapolis Colts: Week 10 NFL Power Rankings (#9)

Last week: 9 (+2) Record: 5-3 If the playoffs were to start today, Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts would travel to the Denver Broncos to play Peyton Manning, who through 8 games, has exactly the same amount of passing yards as his replacement Luck, 2404. The Colts are 4-1 in their last 5, since Chuck Pagano had to leave the team to undergo treatment for Leukemia, with that...

Colts Are Legitimate Playoff Contenders as NFL’s Cinderella Story

The Indianapolis Colts have been at the epicenter of NFL headlines all season long. First, everyone wanted to know how the team would fare in the Andrew Luck era after seeing the success that Peyton Manning brought. Then, first-year head coach Chuck Pagano was diagnosed with leukemia and after responding with a win against the Green Bay Packers on Oct. 7, the team became the NFL’s...

Jaguars 3, Colts 17; halftime thoughts

At halftime, the Jaguars trail the Colts 3 to 17, and the big difference in the game hasn't been in respect to the two teams' quarterbacks. Blaine Gabbert has played well to this point, as has Andrew Luck. Both quarterbacks have similar numbers, but Andrew Luck has been helped more by the rest of his team than Gabbert has. It's at this point that I'd like...

Penalties plague Jaguars in loss to Colts

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Inspiration one week, domination the next. The Indianapolis Colts became the latest team to hammer the Jacksonville Jaguars at home, winning 27-10 on Thursday night behind two rushing touchdowns from rookie quarterback Andrew Luck. Darius Butler returned an interception for a score as the Colts (6-3) won their fourth consecutive game and snapped a three...

Fantasy Football Week 10 Preview: Colts at Jaguars

Gameday Deciding Factors: Titans at Dolphins

BY SEAN DONOVANThe Miami Dolphins' season took on a slightly different tone after a heroic performance by Andrew Luck ended their three-game winning streak, but this team (4-4) is still very much in the thick of the AFC playoff picture. To avoid fading into the background, however, Miami must take care of the Tennessee Titans (3-6) at home.Tennessee quarterback Jake Locker is...

How bad is Curtis Painter?!

Even the greatest quarterbacks can’t overcome bad teams, especially not in their rookie year. It’s something that I have always believed and will continue to believe until forever. Look at Peyton Manning, one of the most prolific passers of our time, and a number one overall draft pick. He came into a team that was legitimately terrible in 1998, and the Colts were capable of...

NFL Week 10 Picks: Texans vs. Bears in Super Bowl Preview

First, President Obama evades the replacement Romneys en route to reelection, ruining the Redskin Rule. Then, less than 24 hours later, a seductive Central Jersey snowstorm abruptly transforms into the nor'easter that would sustain Sandy's reign and eliminate electricity (among worse results) for the second time in two weeks. Thanks a lot, Carolina Panthers. While the Italian...

Indianapolis Colts: The AFC's Dark Horse

On Thursday night the Indianapolis Colts controlled the Jacksonville Jaguars to improve their record to 6-3.Even if it was against the hapless Jaguars, beating a team on the road with only four days rest is pretty impressive. The 2011 Colts were the NFL's version of a dog that's so ugly it's cute, but in 2012 they have made a complete turnaround.Coming into Thursday'...
