The biggest surprise in the Indianapolis Colts’ game against the Houston Texans on Sunday isn’t the fact that they lost. In fact, it was so expected that the shock would have been if they hadn’t lost. No, the biggest surprise has to be how close they were to almost making another miracle comeback in a season that has seen so many already. Trailing 20-3 after a Pat McAfee’s punt was blocked by Texans linebacker Bryan Braman in the 2nd quarter, things looked pretty much out of reach. The Colts had been outmanned and out willed the entire first half. Andrew Luck, to that point, had completed only 3 of 10 pass attempts, had been sacked 3 times, and running back Mewelde Moore – just recently re-signed to the team after the Donald Brown and Robert Hughes injuries – fumbled on the 1 yard line on a drive that should have ended in a touchdown. Then The Block happened, and Braman rumbled the blocked kick 8 yards for a touchdown with 1:46 left to play in the first half. Things looked grim in...

Colts trying to forget mistakes, focus on future

The Indianapolis Colts spent Monday going through all their missed opportunities. There was the fumble at the goal line, a penalty that wiped out a touchdown and a blocked punt that Houston returned for a score. For this young team, Sunday's loss was a hard lesson in how quickly things turn in the NFL. But after going through the film, Colts players were convinced of one thing...

Colts hoping to get Chuck Pagano back by Christmas Eve

The Indianapolis Colts are hoping that head coach Chuck Pagano can return to work on Christmas Eve to prepare for the Texans. “(It’s) still up in the air,” interim coach Bruce Arians. “Later this week, hopefully, we’ll be able to know something for sure. “(He) feels great. Looks good. (Blood) counts were good. We’ve got our fingers crossed.” Arians believes it would...

Colts offensive lineman caught picking his nose

The Houston Texans (12-2) slid past the Indianapolis Colts (9-5) on Sunday, 29-17, to clinch their second straight AFC South title. During the fourth quarter, and when all hope of a comeback seemed lost, Colts center A.Q. Shipley decided to focus his efforts elsewhere: his nose. The CBS cameras caught Shipley in the act and the rest is history.  Shipley has appeared in exactly one...

Indianapolis Colts could make push for division title with win at Houston

The Indianapolis Colts have exceeded even the wildest of expectations this season. The departure of Peyton Manning? A rookie quarterback and a young roster overall, working against a salary cap strapped with dead money? The Colts’ task was daunting entering the season. And then, three weeks in, the team’s new head coach, Chuck Pagano, was diagnosed with leukemia and would miss...

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: Colts Edition

Indianapolis Colts week 15 preview: Houston Texans

The Indianapolis Colts enter into their week 14 matchup against the rival Houston Texans with two things no one expected at the start of the season: a winning record, and a chance to win the AFC South title. Of course, the biggest obstacle in that second pursuit are the Texans themselves. Houston enters this week with an 11-2 record following an embarrassing loss to New England at...

Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans: 5 Things We Learned

The Houston Texans imposed their will on the Indianapolis Colts and gave the home crowd at Reliant Stadium a big divisional victory 29-17. The Texans played their style of football throughout the entire game. They gave the Colts a steady diet of the run and then hit the Colts with balls thrown downfield. J.J. Watt raised his usual havoc as the Texans defense kept Colts QB Andrew...

Vote: Should Robert Griffin III, Andrew Luck or Russell Wilson Win NFL Rookie of the Year Award?

It was clear long before last April that the 2012 NFL Draft was going to center around two players. Those two players — quarterbacks, of course — were Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III. Both players were expected to be franchise-changing talents. Luck was the consensus choice for No. 1, but holding the second pick wasn’t expected to be too shabby, either, with Griffin waiting...

While not a lot is frightening on paper about the 2012 Colts versus the 2012 Texans, this team has troubling...

Russell Wilson Scores Third Rushing Touchdown of Day While Making Push for Offensive Rookie of the Year (Animation)
